When we all joined SFI, we did not do it because we relied on a sponsor to give us support. Most of us joined because of our BIG WHY, i.e. the one reason that made us start this business in the first place and highlighted by each and every one of us in our goal sets--some because they want to improve their standard of living, some because they want to become financially free, etc.

As long as one remains focused on their DREAM, they won't really need a sponsor to motivate them. Their dream will be the fuel to their success.

Don't get me wrong, a sponsor is very important because he's been there and done it before you and he can guide you through your SFI journey. However, your self-motivation and action-taking will be your best driving forces. A sponsor can only do so much. After all, he's only a coach to you, and at the end of the day, you are the one to make it happen.

Remember they say: "You can take a thirsty horse to the water, but until it decides to drink, it will remain thirsty."

I would say that Sponsors are great, they are here to help and guide us. It's true, but you must always have in mind that you are not the only affiliate in their Team.

They have to help many others like you, they also have to continue duplicating their work in SFI to grow their Team.

Definitely, I suggest not to disturb your Sponsor when the answer to your question is already in the Forum or in SFI launchpad or basics.

There's also Sponsors who just joined SFI and is learning like you, those who are not at ease with english language. Then it won't be easy for them to answer to questions.

For me personnally, I learn more by reading the forums or latest news and doing what is said in the Launchpad (https://www.sfimg.com/LaunchPad/). It helps a lot to understand how SFI works and is a great guide for success.

You and Only you can manage your SFI business. Your uplines will be aware of your achievements and maybe they will contact you or sending you tips.

Just have faith in what you are doing and you will reach success.

On your first day of signing up under your sponsor you’ll need an orientation in getting started in your journey with SFI. Your sponsor will be of much help to you in that regard.

But how far should your sponsor go in regards to building your own SFI business?

How much reliance on your sponsor do you expect to build a successful SFI business?

Consider the following points:

- What would you do, if your sponsor is unresponsive or quit?

If you believe that a strong sponsor is essential to building a team, then you need become the strong sponsor to your downline that you believe you are missing. Rather than blaming your sponsor, take responsibility for your downline. Most people that have built large incomes in network marketing do not have an active sponsor.

It’s time to take full responsibility and not blame your sponsor for your lack of success. If you wait on your sponsor to help you, you could be waiting for a long time. If you don’t need your sponsor (which you don’t), then you’ll go to work today to build your own SFI business.

You need to remember that you’re an entrepreneur. Nowhere in the SFI Rules of Success states: “For you to be successful, you must make someone else responsible for your success.”

- Many times, having a strong sponsor serves as a detriment because PSAs tends to lean heavily on the sponsor for support and is never required to develop the leadership skills necessary to build a strong team.

- Your sponsor’s responsibility ends once they get you started. His/her only job is to sign you up and point you in the right direction. If you expect your sponsor to build your SFI business for you, then you most likely will flounder and you’ll never taste the success of building your own SFI business.

Specifically a good sponsor will stay connected with you; training, coaching, mentoring and supporting you in growing your own SFI business. You can’t expect from your sponsor to do the heavy lifting for you. Your business and life challenges are unique to you but the principles of growing your SFI business are the same. Your sponsor will be pointing out to you the importance of SFI BASICS, LAUNCHPAD and logging in everyday performing To-Do List, focusing on your core activity of building your own network (sponsoring) and teaching your downline to do the same (duplication).

- If you are new to network marketing, the tendency is you rely too much on your sponsor and when your sponsor doesn’t give you what you have expected, you will get discouraged and will not continue building your business. You’ll lose in the end.

- When you join SFI, you should be serious about it and you should think that your sponsor is the one who brought you the opportunity but everything that you will do is for yourself and not for your sponsor.

The way you get good at your SFI business is by doing it and not by waiting and relying heavily on your sponsor’s help. The more hours you put into your SFI business, the better. As you grow a team and you have more and more active members, you’ll have opportunities to do training, coaching, mentoring and supporting your downline. Any time you find yourself waiting to build your SFI business because you don’t have anyone to help you, then you might as well just hang it up. It’s your own SFI business.

Have your own goals set up. Don’t wait for your sponsor to tell you everything what you need to do. Widen your knowledge base and develop yourself to become a leader. You must be aware that you are the business owner and it is in your hand whether to succeed or to fail. Embrace the responsibility and do your best. Your sponsor can’t dictate your performance. You are in control on how successful you’re going to build your SFI business.

As a beginner in SFI, you should be able to follow the letters, and videos, the START, SFI BASICs and all that is on the TO DO List. It is presented in easy to understand English and we have translators on each page. The instruction for setting up your e-Mail, profile, photos, etc. are fairly easy and pretty complete.

But you have to do the reading, slowly enough that you can comprehend the material. And not get so impatient that you won't learn. You can do it all yourself. You don't need a sponsor to hold your hand throughout the beginning process.

And when you do have a question, there are many places to find help, upline, Forum, ASK SC, Help Desk, search, sponsor, co-sponsor. Try your sponsor first. If he can't or doesn't help, then go to the others.

But it is nice to be able to have a relationship with your sponsor. A business partner/friend sort of relationship. This is where it becomes more important to have a sponsor. At first your team is rather small and inactive. Your sponsor's team is probably larger. Even if he has only you and one other active PSA, it is larger. Therefore the group he is leading is larger and he can do more with his team than you can at the moment. And you can learn from him how to lead your own group when it has grown like he leads his.

For example, he can sell or give away shares to his advertising co-ops. The more people who put money into the pot, the better the advertising can be, and the better the results for all share holders. He can lead group recruiting meetings bringing together members of his own team and their invitees and present SFI to them. He can organize advertising campaigns for his active PSAs to help with.

So, while a sponsor can start out as a teacher/leader, he can turn into a true business partner which is more valuable.

No matter how helpful your sponsor is, remember the responsibility for the success of your business is you. Not your sponsor.

The number one requirement for success in your SFI business is that you have a strong desire for a better standard of living, getting out of debt, quitting your JOB, or whatever your personal desire is.

Without the self-motivation that forces you back to the computer to do your daily activities, place ads, and study and learn the business, all that your sponsor does or does not do for you matters nothing.

I have people in my downline that I have tried numerous ways to motivate them, but if they are not willing to get focused on the business, there is nothing I can do for them.

Just for the record, I never hear from my sponsor. I guess he's still in SFI, but if I relied on him for the motivation I need to keep going I'd be in serious trouble.

Rely on yourself, do the activities, review the LaunchPad Lessons, if need be go back over the start-up instructions, find help and ideas in the Forum, read the answers in the AskSC - some are helpful, some may not be so much. I read the tips every day and I have found some very good ideas there.

This is your business. It will become whatever you make it. Best of success to you.

SFI has a very valuable and powerful business building system in place. This system is very straight forward and user friendly, and is extremely effective in keeping track of the progress of every affiliate. It puts at our disposal a most reliable step by step learning curve and a second to none information library. Loads of training materials at our finger tips.

With such a system in place you as an affiliate does not need to rely too heavily on your sponsor for assistance.

It is quite encouraging to receive a welcome letter from your sponsor, or to be able to communicate a question, or suggest an idea to them. The caring sponsor will also want to check out the general progress of their down line members from time to time and be ready to offer assistance where possible.

But, on the other hand our sponsors themselves do sometimes show a lack of interest in the business and are not in a right position to offer any help or assistance to their down line members. Over the one year I've been with SFI I can count the number of times my sponsor communicates with me and it seems that he himself does not even log into his account on a regular basis. This does not bother me and it shouldn't be a bother to any well motivated affiliate.

So, never be too dependent on your sponsor to the extent that if they are not available for whatever reason you become stuck. Visit the forum regularly and ask questions, also communicate with a2a friends.
Lastly, but not least, be a good sponsor yourself.

Your sponsor is only one of the many help channels available to you at SFI.
However, your sponsor is not responsible for the success, or the failure, of your SFI business.

If you do have an awesome sponsor, that's fantastic. They will be happy to help and guide you, especially in the early days, while you are still finding your way around. They may even make a difference as to whether you actually get started with SFI or not, by reducing initial overwhelm with a clear and simple-to-follow welcome message. However once you get started, your goal should be to find your own way around the SFI website, because you need to learn to be an awesome sponsor too.

You can find probably 99% of any answers you need by using:
- the Forum

I advise anyone to make full use of the forum as early as possible, because they will often get a much quicker response, due to different time zones (they may be working while I am sleeping), and when they are wanting more creative ideas, rather than prescribed answers, they will get a more varied range of answers in the forum.

Bear in mind also, that your sponsor may be quite new to SFI themselves, and they may not have the answer immediately, although they should be willing to help you find out, as much to help themselves learn as to help you too.

You should aim to build a mutually supportive relationship with your sponsor. Chat with them, share your ideas, let them know how you're getting along, congratulate each other on achievements. That's much nicer than only contacting them with problems or issues.

An awesome sponsor may help to keep you motivated, but someone who is really committed to building their SFI business should not really need that. You need to focus on your own reasons for joining SFI, and your own goals.

There are many SFI Team Leaders, myself included, who began without any active sponsor at all. It may have meant a slightly slower start, but a motivated individual will start regardless. It is equally possible to reach the top ranks of SFI without any sponsor, as with an awesome sponsor.

An active and helpful sponsor is certainly a great asset, but the lack of one should not be an excuse to quit or fail.

Also, bear in mind that even an active sponsor is not a mind-reader, and does not know exactly what you know or don't know, even if they are monitoring your activity as closely as they possibly can. If you have a question, and you can't find the answer, it is your responsibility to take the initiative and ask!

If you have a question that is not or cannot be addressed in the forum, and you do not have an active sponsor, you also have access to:
- your co-sponsor
- your upline
- a2a friends
- SFI Support team

An awesome sponsor should encourage their team to find the answers for themselves, rather than become dependent on them. Remember the saying "Give a man a fish and he will eat for a day, teach him how to fish and he will eat for a lifetime".

Ultimately, only you are responsible for the success of your SFI business.

As stated by most persons answering this question it is not up to your sponsor to make your business successful. However, the extent to which you rely upon your sponsor is totally up to you: based on your need for additional guidance.

When first starting out as a new affiliate at SFI, like every other new venture, there is often mixed experience of excitement, anxiety and zeal. Sometimes, based on your level of understanding, which is often impacted by the level of anxiety, or fatigue you experience, which is also based on how much prior marketing knowledge you have, or how much new information your try to take in at once, you will need help from your sponsor.

You should rely on your sponsor to help provide clarity on aspects of the business that might be a bit confusing or not familiar to you. For example: many affiliates have little or no prior marketing experience, therefore, it is necessary to rely on one's sponsor for guidance on how to set up a blog, frame advertising messages, and or identify items that you can use to establish your ECA status with Tripleclicks.

So whilst the success of your business is primarily in your hands the help of your sponsor goes a long way in helping you succeed; providing he or she is knowledgeable about SFI.

Sponsors come in all shapes and sizes. Some are very good, others not quite so much.

The person who brought me in to SFI was very helpful at first, but I ran into some health issues and fell silent for a while. By the time I returned my sponsor had left the business, and I had been passed up the line to another sponsor, who I have never heard a word from. If I had relied on that second person to help me, I would not have a business today.

When you started with SFI, you started your own business. You are your own boss. Think of your sponsor as a mentor or adviser rather than as someone you should rely on. If they are helpful, you can learn a lot from them, and it will make getting started easier for you.

Even if they are not helpful, you still have a co-sponsor, and others in your up-line, who you can call on for advice. Or you can obtain advice here in AskSC or in the forum. Or you can study the training materials SFI have provided on your own, and you will find everything you need to be successful.

The bottom line is, it is you who needs to take responsibility for your own future. Be grateful whatever advice you receive from others, but don't allow your own success to rely on it.

Your sponsor, if you have one that is actively working to succeed, will try to help you whenever you need a question answered, or advice. You may get additional help from them by receiving messages that give tips they have found useful.

In building a successful SFI Business for yourself, you should only rely on you.
Unfortunately, some sponsors are not as active, or willing to help as others. But, this does not mean you cannot succeed.
Be the Sponsor that you would like to have in your upline. Do what you can to support those below you, to help them succeed. This, in turn will help you to succeed.

If you have a Sponsor who is everything you had hoped for, then ask their advice, ask them questions, and show them that you want to learn the path to a successful business.
They will teach you what they know and show their support when you need it.

Most importantly, teach your downline to be a great sponsor and to pass that knowledge to those they are guiding. This process will lead to success.
