Good Day Sheila,

Allow me to begin by saying that there are many catchy phrases and/or concepts that I truly don't believe in. "Fear of success" just happens to be one of them. However, to understand what it takes to be successful sits to a whole different aspect.

Fear of failure is destructive to success but I have never heard of anyone fearing success. People can procrastinate to no end because they lack vision. Without vision they will freeze because the path before them is not clear. One must overcome what he/she perceives as unfamiliar territory or they will not venture forth for fear of getting lost and making a mistake.

I do not think its so much so the fear of success as much as it is the effort factor that each person puts into the program. We all have been there, that spot where you feel overwhelmed at points and times where you step away and may or may not comeback at a later date, only to realize you have let days go back before taking action. Hi. The way to get it past to them is to address what causes their fear. Why are they afraid of success? Have they tried failure? Have they weighed the two? Which one will they prefer, to be a pauper or a millionaire? Will they like to receive the best that life has to offer them? Then they need no reason to fear their success. Some may fear that if they succeed may be their success will not last or they may soon lose it. Let them understand the blessings attached to success.

To help someone overcome the fear of success will take some time.
I would be positive with anything you say to them. Lots of praise for what they are accomplishing at SFI. Tell them your story. Let them know that you have set backs and that it's normal and how you have moved forward again. Send them inspiration quotes and let them know that everyone has the power to do what they want and they need to get beyond the little voice inside their head that keeps holding them back. The fear of success in my opinion can be eased by comparing failure to success.
African proverb, keep doing what you've always done you'll keep getting what you've always got, which one will you choose failure or success. Great question. First before we can find a resolve we need to look at the reason behind the situation or the "root of the problem" so to speak. I believe that when we consider a "Fear of Success", we can break this down to a fear of the results of success. Most individuals are quite comfortable and function at a less than optimal potential. Fear of Success is not only the issue in SFI, it is a common factor in any business. Not only in business, fear of suceess is applicable for any activity. People always try to keep themselves in the comfort zone. That is why they always suffer from a fear factor when they are forced to be placed in a non-comfort zone.

Fear of success is a deep-rooted psychological issue that is best worked out with a professional. That being said, I think the best you can do for your team members who have this problem are to encourage them every single day, assuring them that you KNOW they can do it. Fear is based on not knowing a subject or your surroundings. To get over the fear of success with your SFI business you must:
