There is no hard and fast rule to apply on it,neither any mathematical formula is involved. We should also consider having the effect of intangible factors on our business.
Generally as it is said,it is not the quantity but the quality matters. Rather we tend to forget,maximum the number,difficult to handle,train or guide them. We find very less successful affiliates percentage hence we advocate to have as many as we can per month,perhaps any star may emerge out of them. On the other hand if you are lucky enough sometime out of less you may find few of the best affiliates. In my opinion,you should try to sponsor each month around 25 or so affiliates. You can watch their performance,you can steer them to the success.Such number is not too large to be uncontrollable or too little to be insufficient. Your successful business depends on combination of your hard work and good luck. Don,t try to build your business in haste,let little time unfold the events leading to your success.

Agreed with your comment about building each month. First phase of development is creating your own team then the second phase is to model and coach down line leaders to develop their teams.

- In 5000 brought new members, you must have 1 star
- For one year - it certainly can make!
- This means that in 5 years of work in SFI - if you do so, you must have 5 top PSA - those are your stars ....... then you are left with only the sky is the limit!

The number of affiliates you sponsor monthly to be successful only matters if they are active. You could responsible for 1000 signups, but if you only get 10 active, do you consider that successful?
SFI tells us that 5 active affiliates monthly, with duplication, will provide you with sustainable income. This is the way to proceed. Remember, "Slow and steady wins the race".

Doing the math. I believe that you need 5 PSAs that are EA2s to comfortably make Bronze each month without any money spent and make pure profit. Those 5 PSAs will give you 500 action VPs. Otherwise you always have to dig into your commissions a bit.
If your able to have some tripleclick sales then you dont need as many affiliates.
