This is a common problem with any type of opportunity such as this. Most folk are not willing to sink money into anything that they are not getting money out of. This is the reason why active people quit. It's not profitable for them to continue.

To prevent this, be very clear about goals and expectations right up front. Let your affiliates know that this is not a get rich quick scheme or something that you can do haphazardly. You must commit not to quit. No matter what. However, this doesn't mean spending 1000s of dollars on SFI to make only pennies in return. Everyone is hear to make lots of money. No one joined just to make a couple bucks. If you look at all the profiles of people who are active, the no.1 reason they joined SFI is to improve their lifestyle. Therefore give them a clear set of actions to take to help them achieve this goal.

To improve your lifestyle is to make an extra 3 to 5 hundred dollars then to grow that income into a 5 figure a month income. That's improving your lifestyle. When people stay in SFI for a year and make no money then somethings bad wrong. Everyone can make money with SFI in the first 3 mos. Few do because most quit in the first 30 days. The majority of the rest 'die' a slow miserable 'death' because they are not connected to a good sponsor or they fail to act on recommendations given by their sponsor.

I've been in SFI for over 7 years and if I had all the people that I've sponsored into SFI my team would be 3 times as big today. This doesn't bother me. What I concern myself with are the 45 or so affiliates who are hungry and want success. Those are the ones you can help. The rest you can only give them recommendations on schedule and if they decide to push through to victory help them get there.

A part of my answer is get them engaged in revenue producing activity.

Most new affiliates engage in 2 things, chasing VP and wanting new affiliates.

The actions for which we receive VP are actions that are meant to educate us, motivate us, and get us to produce revenue. But many do the actions without the intent. They are not trying to grow their business they are trying to get more Versa points.

But new affiliates that stay active engage in revenue producing activity.

Engaged in TripleClicks
List items in your members area. List one new item a week. You list an item that costs you $3.00, sell it for $14.00 and after selling such an item 2 or 3 times in a month you can afford your SO. So list items for sale in your members area.

Make a few sales and that affiliate will keep doing it.

Engaged in PriceBenders
I have a mailing meant to help and motivate people to engage in PB auctions. I have an affiliate that did all her SFI work on a mobile phone. She won a iPad Mini for $1.70. Now she does all her work on her Mini. She LOVES it.

Win a few auctions and that affiliate will keep doing it.

Engaged in Advertising
I have a mailing that I offer to all my affiliates that I use to promote SFI to my prospects. I tell them sign up, steal the email, rewrite it and use it yourself. I give my affiliates five or six free advertising sites to join. I show them how to set up Banner ads and email ads and text ads. And once they start doing it I encourage them to join one new site every few days and load up on all the ads that are free.

Once they start recruiting their own PSAs they will keep doing it.

Engaged in taking steps that build their Business.
I encourage them to sell and buy in TripleClicks business building products.
I encourage them to bid in Pricebenders on business building tools, CSAs, TCredits, Sbuilder, PSAs to Go, and iPad Minis ;-)
I encourage them to see every VP they "chase" as a means to build their business. Use the Genealogy Mailer to build your business, not to get 30 VP. Use rank to build your business. Use your badge board to demonstrate your success. Use your steam message to build you business, build credibility and build confidence.

If they see their business growing they keep on doing it.

Losing previously active people might have different reasons.

- Private reasons: illness/death in family or close friends, not enough spare time, overworked, accidents, natural disasters, changes in private life (new living place, kids)

If the affiliate did retreat (but not opt out) send him regular ecards to encourage him and to show that you are still here and will help him. Don't stop to give him incentives to communicate more with you (of course without spamming).

Job one is to find out why they are leaving.

You can do nothing to help when you don't know the problems the individual faces. Most it will just be that they set an arbitrary time frame to be a success in their own eyes and they have reached their quit day. Some might be helped by motivation and others will have their minds made up.

For many it will be that they feel pressured to place a standing order or buy traffic, buy PSA, etc.. They will need reminded that SFI is free, and none of those things are required of them. Some sponsors work to their own detriment pushing these things when the average PSA simply doesn't have the financial well being to maintain a standing order for months as they look for active PSA.

By far the biggest reason for losing them boils down to income.

If you preach refer PSA and build your downline and never teach them to make sales at TripleClicks first they will have a long wait to earn money and the longer before they see a paycheck the more apt they are to quit. So learn how to generate sales at TripleClicks as a free member with no money to invest so you can teach your free members who have no money how to earn the income needed to buy PSA, to Advertise, to place a standing order.

Don't think about you and what you can afford think about those less fortunate.

Your question concerns all Team Leaders with downlines. When we sponsor new affiliates, some of them look very promising. As a Team Leader I have experienced one or more recently sponsored affiliates became EA in just a week, others will take a month or two months to achieve EA and then fade away. There are different reasons such as economic situation, personal/business challenges, and high expectations or being curious, just wait and see attitude.

What you can do:

- Upon receiving your new affiliates, send them a warm welcome message. Make them feel that they have your full support and commitment in helping them to succeed.

- Emphasize to them the importance of understanding the SFI BASICS, for a good solid foundation in their venturing with SFI. Use Stream Posts, Team Mail or Genealogy to send them messages, which includes the core principles of SFI. You can also direct them to SFI Forum to have an experience with SFI community’s readiness to help and friendly atmosphere.

- Be prompt to answer their inquiries. This is an important action as a Team Leader for starting a close relationship with your downlines. Your guidance is invaluable which will lead in winning their trust.

- Monitor the activities of your team by using Genealogy and you can also go through their VP Ledgers if you want to be more specific.

- Motivate them to excel in their participation with E365, in their daily log in to accumulate action VPs leading to EA and encourage them to continue in expanding their knowledge base. Make use of E-Cards in their achievements.

- If one of your movers did not log in for a day or two, get in touch with him/her. Find out what’s going on and offer your help if needed. Your consistency in communicating with your team and ensuring them your full support may prove to be a deciding factor for them to commit in SFI.

By implementing this strategy, you are fully involved in their activities, which is an important part of building trust in your organization. Having trust established within your team will most likely encourage them to remain active and stay committed.

Loosing people in a Residual Business is never new. Indeed, I have lost many of my downline who were extremely active and also were E365 Champions of their class. Here, I can show you some ways which you can apply to give your best chance to retain them.

1. Any member in SFI, must need a cause to stay. That means, either he must be getting good commissions, Gift Certificates (Incentives), Winning auctions, Generating sales from own ECA. So, it is very important for the sponsor to ensure that his/her down line has a cause to stay.

2. If you some of your PSA is going down, then you can promise him a constant support to build his team. Start making campaign to get him some PSAs along with yours. This will increase his motivations and give him confidence.

3. Try to give some incentives when he reaches a certain goal. This will at least give him the believe that he gets back at least few percentage of the investment he did for the goal.

4. Help him with practical tips which can make him win some of the auctions. This will encourage him to stay active.

Funny, I think that’s the story of everyone’s life here at SFI, though I cannot speak for everyone. But I also keep losing affiliates, especially those I got through Sbuilder. I’m not sure what the problem is, but first:
• I believe some of them get discouraged with the amount of time, and effort they have to put in, with so little monetary reward at the end of the month. I had a down line who was so eager to know when he would be getting paid after this first month and I told him the day, he became inactive a few days after that.
• Also the first month is easier for new affiliates because it’s so easy to make 1500VP, and then after the first month, it becomes a little less easy, most get discouraged, and worry that they cannot make EA2 in a week…..or a day like they did in the first month with their getting started, and intermediate actions.
• Some just do not have the time to get serious with the business and they face away after some time.
I believe the best way to keep affiliates active is constant communication. Communication is key to everything we do here at SFI.
• First thing you need to check as a sponsor is to make sure you’re not overselling the truth. Sometimes in our anxiousness to make PSAs put in their best we might promise them long term results in the short term. We should as sponsors, manage expectations and lets our PSAs know exactly what they should be expecting, and in what time frame.
• We should also be sincere with Affiliates and let them know that this is a business that requires time and effort. They need to put something in to get anything out, just logging in everyday to do only the ‘to do list’ isn’t enough.
• Encourage when your affiliates achieve something, and even when they do not. It is easy to get discouraged at the start of any business, and give up. So you need to constantly be there for them.
• Finally always provide incentives to motivate them to hit their next achievement. Incentives go a long way in giving that final push most people need to hit their target.
I believe these suggestions would go a long way to keep your affiliates active much longer. Hope this helps.

To be able to answer your question accurately, it is important to know whether you mean that active people suddenly Opt-out or that you mean that people who were active before just stop being active.

If affiliates suddenly Opt-out there is not much you can do, because you are not permitted to contact them anymore.

However, if it is a case of people who were active before and suddenly stop being active, then this is a different matter. In this case I would simply send them an e-mail asking them what the reason why they stopped working, and whether there is anything you can help them with. Without knowing the reason why, it is virtually impossible to address the issue. If you ask 5 affiliates why they suddenly have stopped working and they all give you the same reason, there may be a structural problem you could address.

You can only deal with a problem when you know its root, otherwise you may find yourself just scratching the surface of the problem and risk falling back into the same issue over and over again.

More or less this happens to all of us. Of course we want to do our best to reduce this from happening. We all experience times in our own lives when we've abandoned being productive or ceased making progress in exchange for comfort and peace. Rather than explore any further the possibilities of our own potential we chose instead a lazy lifestyle. Until one has the willingness to change this vicious cycle it will only continue.

Doing nothing is the worst thing of all. Having days filled with endless opportunities and possibilities only to be thrown away on useless activities like television and games. It becomes very hard to break lazy habits. Poverty will come unless one takes decisive action to change his/her daily routine. Waiting to long will force one to take action at a time when it's often to late because poverty has overtaken like a thief.

All you can do is be vigilant with your active people and don't assume because they're active today means they'll be active tomorrow. Learn to recognize and watch for patterns and signs. Anything that will cue you in as to their condition. Are they overlooking or skipping over any of the Daily, Weekly and Monthly Actions. If you notice disparities send an E-Card with a Tip. Stay on them as long as it takes to get them geared up and moving. Send your team motivational quotes most every day.

You might offer a $10 gift certificate for anyone that reaches EA2 or higher in their second month with SFI. At that same time you could offer a $60 gift certificate to any that maintain BTL for 6 consecutive months at any interval in time. Once they're working the goal is to keep them working. Working until they become passionate about what the do. Be watchful and creative.

We will not be able to stop them from quitting. They might be trying out to see if they could make a quick bucks, within a few months. Generous Sponsor might have given them PSAs, TCredits as a rewards to motivate. What happen after that? They could not sustain without their Sponsor's assistance and decided to leave.

In most cases, financially unstable would be the reason for them to opt out. Affiliates from poor nations could not sustain the high USD exchange rate, resulting us seeing affiliates opted out way before attaining their EA in their 1st or 2nd months. They could be an active members for months but quit once they're not seeing cash coming in as expected.

Communicate to the active PSAs/CSAs, provide them the required guidance, don't pamper them too much with your rewards, if they want to do this business, they will do it, even without your rewards. These are your true business partners. Help them when needed. Teach them ways to overcome their financial problem, if possible.
Be a true friend and Leader/s.
