In my opinion huge downline does not neccessary means huge number of active affiliates...but mathematically probably chances are higher.
It would be the best having them answered this question and revealed their secret.
But here is my best guess:
1. Amount of time devoted to SFI.
2. Excellent advertizing skills (very often related to previous experience).
3. Following and mastering advertizing and sponsoring techniques presented by SFI. And very often inovating their own.
4. Investing their time and money. Business requires investment.
5. Free advertizing and paid advertizing.
6. They have their own web page or well designed blog.
7. They are active on forum, but with constructive comments, not with the phrases. Thus their credibility is visible.
8. They bid on auctions and probably initially for TCredits. When accumulated enough TCredits they go for PSA/CSA auctions.
9. They purchase affiliates or advertizing hits.
9. Building team of that size anyway requires time. With time there comes experience. Experience helps them how to deal with their downline, how to address them in a proper way to create more diamonds.

SFI is a special MLM company. Anybody can have a huge downline with in a year. SFI provides you an opportunity to build your downline in a 2 ways. One is PSA, which you directly sponsor, and CSA, which company gives you as reward for maintaining leadership rank.

If you wish of having a huge downline, than first you have to retain your rank BTL or above. In this way, you will receive about 50 or more CSA. Suppose you have maintain STL rank for 1 year, than you will have more than 1200 CSA in your downline with in a year (If we take average minimum 50 CSA for 1 share, This condition usually always fulfilled)

For PSA, You have to be aggressive enough. You should have a target of 100 PSA per month. You can purchase the PSA from tripleclicks. There are some very reasonable schemes there. You can win the PSAs from tripleclicks auctions. You should do advertising for 1 hour daily. You should have your own blog or your own website. And when the mutiplication starts working, You can not imagine the number of affiliates in your downline after 1 year.

And the last but not the least, you should be a constant learner. The massive training material distinguishes SFI from other peer networking companies.

For Team Leaders with groups numbering in the tens of thousands! What they do differently to build such a huge downline is that they concerntrate mostly on recruiting PSAs, PRMs and even ECAs.

They spend most of their time in advertising their gateways to generate sign-ups. They purchase sign-ups either from the S-builder Coop or from ECAs. They also bid on PSAs and win in Pricebenders Auctions.

They never stop in the recruiting process alone. They devote their time to teaching their downline how to duplicate them and they also offer any support that may be required of them to their downline.

This encourages their downline to duplicate them and be successful just as they are and they also teach their downline to do same. The list keeps going as the generation of downline keeps growing. Before long, they have established a strong and active groups of affiliates in their downline who are ready to work together as a team for the good of all.

I am sure there are teams with groups numbering tens of thousands. The essential ingredient for such huge numbers is cohesive teamwork coupled with knowledge by reading the notes provided by SFI and putting them into practice. SPONSORING AND DUPLICATION
Sponsoring and duplication is covered at SFI Basics. Huge downlines can be built by the power of sponsoring and duplication with every team member putting in the effort. This can done with teamwork and sponsors playing their part in guiding their PSAs.

SOCIAL MEDIA
The use of social media can help bring lots of traffic to your SFI websites. The more you nurture your followers, the higher the probability of them sharing your posts with a link to your site.

DIVERSIFY YOUR TRAFFIC SOURCE
Don’t put all your eggs in one basket. Classified Ads is a good and common method for getting traffic. Supplement that with S-Builder, your own websites/blogs, SEO, PPC, Social Media, etc.

OTHER METHODS TO BUILD TRAFFIC
Other methods to build traffic include, do link exchanges, add your site to web directories, make videos and submit to Youtube, include your site links in the signature of emails, take part in banner exchanges, get your own top-level domain so that your site looks professional etc.

I'm fortunate and blessed to be one of those TLs. SFI is a team business which means that no one individual is responsible for a "huge" downline. However, there's a few things you can do to position yourself to have such a business...

1) I strongly recommend you focus on learning to generate and convert your own leads. Your ability to build lead systems will greatly increase your chances of building a business with tens of thousands of Affiliates.

2) Co-oping with your PSAs is a great way to leverage your own advertising skills and start building depth. Leverage is important!

3) Building depth through duplication is a critical part to having a large group. Duplication does NOT mean that every Affiliate does everything exactly like their upline. This is a myth! Duplication is a commitment to the business building process using one or more of the hundreds of systems and tools available. After almost 30 years, 20+ years full-time, in this type of business I have NEVER seen 100% duplication in any group or company.

4) Keep your system simple so your Affiliates can emulate some or all of your efforts.

OK, here's the real secret to building a group numbering in the tens of thousands. The secret is momentum! You need to put enough effort into building your Affiliate group that momentum sets in and suddenly your group is growing beyond your span of control. There's no magic to this business and there's no reason why you can't have a group in the tens of thousands. You just need to put forth sustained and ever increasing effort over a long period of time. Sticking with it is the hard part!

There is only one way to reach such results - massive advertising of all kind and I'll bet on warm advertising and paid advertising (which I am also using). Add time factor to that and you'll have the full picture.

People who join SFI are attracted by the word FREE most often, but you must be aware of the fact that FREE is just another four letter word (if you know what I mean). Nothing is free here, because you have to devote your time at least and this also has a monetary value. Besides, you can't do any business without investment, so if you rely on FREE sources only, simply forget it.

Do you want to build a massive downline? Here's the recipe: paid advertising + time.

My budget is low so what I pay for is something like 15 to 30 affiliates each month (averaging to 23/month) which means that after a year I am going to have 23*12 = 276 PSAs. If only 1% of them, i.e. 3 people follow my example, their going to have 3*276 = 828 their own PSAs after a year, growing my downline to 1104 people total plus what I get during that time, and so on. Do the maths and see how many people will there be in the 3rd, 4th and 5th year assuming that only 1% of new Affiliates follow the path.

Of course, you can assign a larger budget to speed up your downline building and those who have massive downlines spend massive amounts on advertising. Find people like Bing Obaldo or Stone Evans here and ask them how much they spend on advertising and where they advertise. If they care to answer, you may be really surprised.

Paid advertising + time = massive downline (the more money and time, the bigger).

While I haven't completed my system for SFI yet I have been known to build a huge downline and have great success with getting more workers than the average Joe.

The things I will tell you are too darned simple to not do.

1. They learn every day.
2. They teach every day.
3. Those lessons are usually taught on their own website or blog.
4. They capture leads and share the message in bite sized pieces.
5. They take small amounts of success and tiny bits of money and reinvest it. They keep reinvesting until they can afford both their promotion budget and the life they desire. I mean these folks could get a $1000 affiliate check and put $998 back into the business to get to a $2,000 affiliate check.
6. They see their reputation as a gold mine.
7. They sell their gold mine to others by being out there and reachable daily. You've seen it, Bing, Wayne, and others in the SFI forum each day as does Gery and his team. I guarantee they are networking outside SFI every day as well.
8. They never give up, adversity is the next talking point, a challenge must have a solution.

The exact tools are the bits you have to fill in, and the time frame is different for us all, but the core is solid and path is clear.

There are many affiliates in SFI who continue to get back-to-back continuous downline members. I'm not really sure how to put this, but the best way in order to build a huge downline is to keep pursuing your business like you normally do now. There are some people who have a lot of ways in order to build their downlines, and then there are others who are "limited" as far as building their downline members. Only be able to do what you can in order to build your team members. Not everybody might be able to do it, but even a slow crawl in building your downline can also be very helpful in these situations too.

There are "many ways" you can get PSA and CSAs on your team. You can get them via Free Advertising (PSAs only), TripleClicks Pricebenders Auctions (Both PSAs and CSAs), DailyGrand (CSAs only), E365 Finalist Drawings (Round 6 of the E365 Contest-CSAs Only), Proprofit Products off of Tripleclicks (PSAs Only), S-Builder Co-op (PSAs, CSAs, or even TripleClicks Members), and also as bonuses depending on your rank (CSAs only). If you can do all this, consider yourself going up a very long way. Do only what you can really do and the rest shall take care of itself for you.

What do they do differently to build such a huge downline? Very good question that majority of the affiliate will want to know. From my own perspective after carefully studying some successful affiliate and the SFI business itself I came to realise what this successful affiliate do differently from others to achieve this milestone of huge downline.

I discover that to build HUGE downline require HUGE investment of money in this area:

1. Buying of PSAs from good ECAs.
2. Bidding for CSAs.
3. Buying of 2 to 3 S-Builder Co op on monthly basis.
4. And off course paid advertisement to generate traffic to their gateway.

Mind you, you can still build your team without investing huge money but it will take you time to build huge downlines. Good luck to us all.
