Being a leader in SFI is not that different from other organizations but it has some specifics of its own.
Firstly, leaders have to lead by example. One of my colleagues said: One single action worth thousand persuasions. People copy the behavior of good leaders.

Leaders need to have integrity. Ruin it once and you will have difficulties to earn the trust back.

Leaders need to have knowledge but since it is difficult to know everything, good leaders are not ashamed of saying: I do not know. Good leaders won’t lie but they will do their best to find the answer.

Good leaders need to be empathic. They need to be able to “put themselves into other people’s shoes”. Because they were in the same position once and they should not forget how confusing and overwhelming it seemed at the beginning.

Good leader will assist you but will not do your job because it will not help you in developing your own skills and furthermore your own leadership.

Some would say that leaders are born and others would say that leadership can be learned. But that is a whole new subject. Maybe the truth is somewhere in between.

Successful leaders in SFI should know how to lead a team and set positive examples for their downline to follow to achieve success.

First of all, leaders should try to get good factual knowledge on SFI's business - its rules, strategies, principles, and how to be successful - by reading all available information, inspiring and motivational books, and being alert to the questions and answers shared among affiliates on ASK SC and the forum, to gain wisdom.

Leaders should be active on the STREAM and FORUM pages, pricebenders auctions, and maintain regular communication with their downline. They should always keep their communication lines open, and let them know that they are there to support and help them on this journey.

As long as they have active downline, they should teach them DUPLICATION, which is the ultimate factor for success with SFI. A standing order is a must as well, and if possible, having a coop. Leaders should be investers, and encourage their downline to invest of their TIME and MONEY as well, as no one can expect to run a profitable business without those two factors.

Leaders should give out incentives to hard working affiliates as a way of encouraging them, but not neglecting to motivate the others, as they can awake one day and realise that they should get involve in SFI, if they want to have a better way of life.

Successful leaders set goals, and aspire to work towards achieving them, as they know beforehand where they want to be, what they want to achieve and what they have to do to achieve it.

Good leaders are MOTIVATIONAL and are PACESETTERS, and others are KEEN and EXCITED to FOLLOW them

Successful leaders know that SFI is a business, like any business, where it takes time for growth; it is not an overnight success. They make sure their affiliates understand this. They welcome new affiliates right away and help those who need it with positive support and encouragement.

Leaders who are successful know as much as possible about the business and read as much as they can every day. They complete their tasks each day and strive to gain as many VP as possible and help team members to do the same.

Successful leaders do not coerce affiliates in any way. They know that this would only turn affiliates away. They know who their movers are and congratulate them and encourage them. They watch their genealogy to find those who are the workers. They make sure that affiliates abide by the rules and report those who refuse to do so.

Successful leaders in SFI know virtually or if not all the details about SFI, how SFI works, what you can do with SFI and how well you are able to teach your downline what you've learned ever since you joined SFI.

Successful leaders know how the programmes and income opportunities in SFI works. They know the ups and downs of the attempts and participation of the programmes. They are therefore able to give advice adequately. So simply put Successful Leaders are GOOD ADVISERS.

Also Successful leaders know how to lead their downline. The issue of duplication comes into place. They are able to maintain a Top spot in Class, Country, Overall Power Rankings and other types of rankings. Definitely, to show for your success, your badges speak much. Therefore, successful leaders have an "arsenal of badges". When affiliates look at successful team leaders badges, they get encouraged to duplicate.

And most of all, Successful leaders know how well to treat every affiliate under them with the respect they all deserve to keep up team spirit.

The first thing successful leaders do would be to consider SFI as serious business and that we need to invest time and resources as we would do in any other business. Make no mistake SFI is not a one of those frivolous online business where you swing in and swing out.

There are some important things we perhaps must do as leaders to be successful:

1. Set a clear goal. We have TAB in the daily 'to do' list. The reason is to have a goal and work towards that. Make sure that these are regulary visited, updated and realistic.

2. Have a growth strategy in place. It could be a marketing, communication, recognition, rewards etc. We need to have a clear strategy for design and execution.

3. Make all your decisions measurable with outcomes. For e.g if you are participating in an auction of 500 T-Credits clearly define thresholds. It does not make sense to win an auction at $15 spending $ 200 to buy T-Credits to win 500 T-credits.

4. Draw budgets as you would do with any other business and stick to it. It may sound silly to talk about budgets in online business. But it makes a lot of sense and budgets provide you direction and how far you would want to go.

5. Manage relationship. Every affiliate is a potential customer. Nurture them. Expand network through A2A. You never know where help can come from. Look for collaboration. A classic example is sharing cost for Co-ops.

6. Maintain rigor in actions. Be it communication, marketing, financials etc maintain a rigor. That would help in running a disciplined business.

7. Share knowledge : Be a part of forums. Contribute, share and learn from forum discussions.

8. Last but not the least always remember that your success depends on how you make your affiliates successful.

Success in SFI as with any other kind of business, both online and traditional, is a matter of personal decision to commit, persevere and enforce. To be Successful in SFI in my opining, must do the followings:

Recruit/Refer
Train/Teach
Duplicate.

A successful SFI business owner is one who is very knowledgeable in all the components that make up SFI System and workings, have studied the Rule of Success and is following its recommendations. They understand the Basics and its requirements; they are passionate about their business.

They have a good knowledge of the income plan, understanding the importance of VersaPoint accumulation, Rank maintenance and upgrade.

Above all the understand the impact of referral and duplication, that it is the key and they hold it close to the heart of their business.

Successful People in SFI are very compassionate and they are good readers and teachers, they are selfless, always ready to help others in sharing their knowledge and most times their resources to ensure their downline does not get discouraged or frustrated.

Because they know that SFI is multi-faced, they explore it all (ECA Program, PRM, PSA, CSA and even SFIPPA) they leave no stone unturned. They also Employ the POWER OF DUPLICATION and exploit it to the fullest, they teach their downline everything they know and ensure they are doing the same.

Successful SFI leaders learn everything they can about this program. They read everything they can get their eyes on about Internet Marketing. They follow the steps and build their own success, and then teach their downline to do the same. Just follow the SFI basics!

But the REAL secret is patience. You need to keep logging in every day, review your tabs, read something about Intertnet Marketing and post an ad or flier in at least one place. Also, be sure to communicate with your team members, either en masse or individually.

The first few months, it is easy to get discouraged because your income will probably be small. But! Somewhere around the fifth or sixth month, (if you are following the basics and building your team EVERY DAY), there suddenly comes a moment when everything comes together. All of a sudden, your income is much higher, you have EA's and team leaders in your downline, and your ads and fliers start generating sales. The trick is to keep going past those first few months without giving up! If you know this, and put it into practice, the system will work its "magic" and you will start to make your economic and personal dreams come true.

5.They need to be approachable, likeable and comfortable in their position. The team needs to be able to relate to the leader and believe he is really concerned about them.

6.They need to have the right attitude-be positive, honest about everything, self-assured and motivating. Their team needs to see a can do attitude in order to believe things can be done.

7.They need to show their ambition. If you want your team to work hard you must be willing to work harder. They will follow your example.

8.All people at times need someone to look up to for direction, guidance, inspiration and motivation. The team leader needs to be that someone in order for the business to be a great success.
