How much is too much when contacting your team or downline?

Hi Rebecca,

I want to write to my team every time I learn something that I think will help them but if I did this, it would be nearly everyday.

What I do is make a note in my notepad of important things to relay to my team then refer to it twice a week. The only time I break this rule is when there is something that is time sensitive and they need to know immediately.

To decide how many times to contact down line are depend on your purpose of contacting and kind of affiliates you contact.
Your purpose of contacting: Every time before you send mail to your down line you must keep in mind what is your purpose of the mail you are sending, greeting, weekly team mail, cheer up, challenge, reward, answer question, guide him some useful tips, or congratulations etc. If you contact your down lines without purpose even one time of mailing is too much, but

Very Good Question.

My opinion: I consider SFI Business is a Team work & Team can be motivated by proper guidelines, encouragement & appreciations at appropriate time & a very good communication in this regard is most essential. For the development of your business, you have to keep communications continue with your Team Members and for this interactions with your team members, i don't think the question of how much is too much does't arises, i mean we should not put any borderline

Well it all depends, how much could be too much when contacting your team or downline.

The thing is how relevant is your mail to your team is. If its just to get the 30vp per week and the mail is not relevant it becomes something else, most especially for those who are not yet active in SFI.

It's never too much if you are providing them with useful information that will help THEM. It's always too much if you are just sending them stuff to help YOURSELF.

There is no perfect answer to this question, because everyone is different. Some people can't get enough communication and others will get upset with just one email.

I appreciate this question, it is also regarding "Leadership Etiquette".

Pretend for a moment that I am one downline. Is this the sort of reaction you would like me to have to your marketing messages that took countless hours and manpower to create? How can you create a meaningful connection with your team without overwhelming them with too much content?

A very good question and I am sure it is one each of us has grappled with. For me as a recipient even one inane, insincere, pointless message is one too many. So my rule of thumb is " if I wouldn't want to receive it, I don't send it."

I think it is always good to contact your team when you feel a need to ask for help, ideas or any questions.

As for your downlines, if they are in contact with you often than i do not see why you cant approach them when you want to.

Even though I myself have not heard from any of my downliners I see that one of them has come back and collected some more points.....still have no words from him but I am sure there will come a time when they will feel right to contact me.

SFI provides VP for sending Team Messages, which you get once per week. Unless you have important news, tips or any of such, contacting your Downline, once a week is sufficient.

The same goes for upline messages - unless you have an important issue/problem that you cannot seem to resolve through the sources available such as ASK SC, giving your Sponsor an update once a week should also be suffient.

Sending Team Messages just to earn the VP is really missing the point of it

The simple answer, for me, is more than two team mailings per week. Realistically, I try to keep it simple, and also to include praise for active teammates in one of the mailings. That provides public encouragement for the members who are achieving their goals and a gentle nudge to the inactive ones. The other email talks about team goals, SFI sucess tips, and similar items.

Also, I never ask my downline to promote my ECA items. If they want to, they are welcome, but I am here to help
