For one thing, you could set up a simple leadcapture page with an autoresponder form and get the emails and other information from people who take a look at SFI so that you can send followup email every few days. You would be able to give them all the high points of SFI from your personal website or blog and since they would be opting in, as long as you include an opt out link, you wouldn't have to worry about spamming. On the other hand, if you're not sure about autoresponders or lack training on their use they can be a little scary. I suggest before you use one, read all the documentation and rules and never add and never add anyone without permission.

While an auto-responder may make your job easier it takes the personal touch out of helping your team. Some may realize what you are doing and become disillusioned by such tactics. They may feel that they are not worth your time to think up an original message of advice and encouragement to offer them. I'm not saying that those who use them are not good team leaders just that you need to be careful about how your downline may feel about a less personal way of communicating with them.

Auto-responders allow you to capture contact information from a sign-up form on a web page and automatically store the information in a database. You may now program the database to send a series of follow-up messages to the captured contact list at predetermined intervals.

For me an auto-responder is not ideal for SFI biz because of the following reasons.

1a. Most request, question, or mail from SFI prospects or members are specific to a topic and vary from person to person. Auto responder is only great to answer or respond to generalized questions.

1b. SFI biz requires intimate relationship to build trust. Dynamism and trust is what facilitate sale the most. With auto-responder your prospect interact much more with a static program(e.g mailbot). They become discouraged If they later discover, they have been interacting with a static program and not a person.

2.It's easy to procrastinate writing auto-responder messages because it takes a lot of time to write up the programming. If they are not effective your prospect or teammates may be turned off feeling you do not place value in their success in SFI.

3. Auto-responder is expensive especially if you need to hire someone to write up the programming for you. Not all SFI affiliate is vast in writing programs like JAVASCRIPT, PHP,XML, HTML (etc). You may also need to pay the programmer for updates to meet up with the new challenges of the biz.

Its very much needed in SFI i feel and hence we have a option for "personal welcome message". How you use it is very important. I feel you can use it to gain your PSAs faith or even loose faith at times. The points you must take care when writing.

1. Use a real one : This means do not write as a spammer with so many mouth watering words. keep it simple

2. Do not use links much: This gives a very bad impression about you. sometime you may loose the affiliate completely because of this.

3. promise to help: This is very important. always put a sentence stating that, you will be always there to guide him through rough patches. This can really make a big deference.

4. Put your email id or phone number: This shows the person is real and he is available for help.

Yes, you definitely should use an auto-responder. If you are new to SFI, you may possibly correspond individually for promoting friendship and trust. But if your affiliate list has grown into hundreds, you will find it impossible to respond to each one separately. The time saving from individual responses becomes imperative even though it lacks the benefit of personal acquaintanceship. You can make four or five contacts per month automatcally, personalizing the greeting, ending, etc while mailing to a list of 100s or thousands. Many times, it takes repeated contact to bring a response either because the timing was not apropo, or the need was not realized at the time. Auto-responders do keep a good record of your correspondence leaving you precious time to zero in on those who are considering buying or partaking of your offer or product. In the end, you will find more acceptance than even the personal touch if your content is properly organized and closes with an urgency to participate. They make it easier to make a variety of free offers for initial contact. The importance of the auto-responder grows with your business. I am to the point where I want to make use of one with SFI right now.

Its a good tool for initial contact with new affiliates as they join. Also allows regular general messages and information to be sent out automatically. Especially useful if you dont have the time to attend to each affiliate or lots of affiliates.

Although this is useful, I'd advise you keep an eye on which affiliates are active and achieving results ... these affiliates should get more personal contact from you offering help, ideas, encouragement and recognition.

So yes, use an auto-responder to stay in touch with all your affiliates ... but also pay particular attention to those who are having a go ... they are the ones who will build your business.
