It seems to me that you’re lacking confidence to communicate with your team members. You need to get out of that mindset and do a self reassessment to establish a clear picture of yourself and identify what’s causing you to think that way. In expanding the growth of your network your communication skills play a very important role. If you think you need to work on your communication skills, you can do a Google search of “communication skills test” to assess the level of your communication skill.

Understanding the communication process will help you improve your communication skills:

- During communication with one of your team members, there are stages of communication process that take place:

You as the Source > Encoding of Message > Message Channel > Message Decoding > your team member as the Receiver

- You, who is the source of the communication put your ideas into a message (encodes), and transmits your message through a channel. The receiver decodes the message, and, in one way or another, feeds back understanding or a lack of understanding to you as the source.

- By understanding the steps in the process, you can become more aware of your role, you’ll then recognize what you need to do to communicate effectively, anticipate problems before they happen, and improve your overall ability to communicate effectively.

You can improve your communication skills that enable you to effectively connect with others in your team, build trust and respect, and feel heard and understood.

For the meantime, while working on your communication skills you can do the following in supporting your team members:

- Follow the step by step advice of “Be an awesome Sponsor”.

- Connect with your upline for support

- Use the My Country/Region sub-forum to communicate with your affiliates. You might find threads that can help in supporting your team members. As you participate in the forum, you’ll be able to view your messages before your team members. This is a good way for you to assess your communication skills.

But don’t stop here, you’ll be limiting your SFI business growth by not encouraging yourself to strive in improving your communication skills.

You need to be effective on all aspects of the communication process from sender to receiver and be comfortable with the different channels of communication whether it is written, face to face, on the phone and so on, not allowing poor communication to become a barrier in growing your SFI business.

Proper maintenance of your Leadership Page and directing your PSAs to your Leadership Page is an act of good supportive sponsor.

Make use of the PSA/CSA/Genealogy/Stream mailers to provide some basic communication.

Advise your PSAs to keep updated with the latest SFI News, check through forum, ASK SC and other SFI resources to find answers to questions.

Obviously you need to improve the aspect of your communications skills which you think you are not good at.

If its because you cannot communicate very well verbally with others, you will need to identify why this is so and work hard at eliminating your deficiencies. In SFI, there is little requirement to verbally communicate with team members. All your work can be done via the internet and you do not have to ring them up and speak with them.

Written communication is a lot easier for most people because they can see and can check what they have written before it is sent out to the recipients. You can check you grammar, spelling, punctuation, format and the tone of your message.

If English is not your native tongue, you can use the online translators. Prepare your message in your native tongue and then translate it to English before sending it out. I would suggest that after translating it in English, translate it back to your language and see if it is the message that you want to convey. Translators are not perfect but they are a big help. Use the 'language' Forum.

Use all the communication tools that have been provided by SFI - team mails, streams, E-cards, messengers etc..

A tip:

Often its not what you actually type that affiliates respond to. I believe that what matters to the affiliates is the fact that you are communicating with them regularly, encouraging them, responding to their questions and answering them as best as you can. You don't have to explain everything to them. Most of the answers to the questions are already contained in the SFI lessons and texts. Get to know where to find these and give the relevant links to your affiliates as required. They can read for themselves. Its also the best way for them to learn and for them to find answers for themselves.

Another tip:

Go to your genealogy report. Identify those with birthdays and anniversaries and send them congratulatory messages as necessary. I find most affiliates like these.

More tips:

Whenever one of your team members or yourself achieve a milestone such as rank, win a major prize etc.. sing their praises. Send out streams, mention these on your leadership page, mention them in you newsletters. Heap accolades on them and hopefully that will motivate others to do try harder.

Whenever you come across matters that your team should know about, let them know immediately. Eg, when Spin & Win is on, its always within a limited time frame. Don't presume that your affiliates have seen it and will act on it. Send out messages to let them know about it and for them to act on them promptly. Its free VP and most affiliates appreciate the reminders.

As you can see, the secret is not the fact that you can speak and write fancifully. The secret is how you communicate with them.

6. Keep reading all English News Papers & try to enhance your vocabulary;

which can give you more confidence;
9. Visit shopping area frequently & make inquiries with salesmen for products even if you do not want them;

First of all I would ask who says your communication skills are not good, and secondly what is wrong with them?

Many people think of themselves as not very good communicators.

The first thing to do is just think you are talking to a friend and write things down just as you would say them. If people can understand you when you are talking to them then they will understand what you have written.

Perhaps you get tongue-tied or excited when talking and start talking gibberish. Just stop and think about what you are going to say before you start speaking.

You never know you might actually explain something in a different way to other people and find that more people understand it the way you are saying or writing it

Communicating is just getting others to understand what you are saying.

If you think it may be because you are not too confident with your subject matter. In this case there is nothing better than studying your subject more thoroughly. If you can understand it then you should have no trouble explaining it to someone else.

SFI has been around for many years. Many questions that we have today, have been dealt with many times sometimes ago. They were already answered.

SFI has lot of material readily prepared for us. Like we have samples of welcome messages, support messages to team members, FAQs, etc.

To become a good supporting sponsor when your communication skills are not good, you can use the above material. If your team members ask you a question, advice, etc. You just go on the top right corner of your page. You’ll find a search box. That search box works like Google search. You just type one word or your question. It will give you different options of answers.

From the answers that you get there, you can chose the suitable/relevant one to your question. You can then copy and paste it. Then send it to your downline. Or you can just send them the link to the answer. If you don't get the answer, just go to the Forum and ask.

You can also do the same with welcome messages, support messages, weekly messages etc. While you are doing that, you’ll be learning as well. After learning, you can start writing your own.

Communication skills are not limited to writing and speaking. There are many ways to communicate effectively, by signs and by the expressions on your face to convey how you feel, for example.

In SFI, communication skills is easy to develop and there are plenty of resources to learn from. There is no need to be hampered by your perceived lack of communication skills to become an awesome sponsor.

Affiliate Tips and Ask Gery on your Training tab provide lots of tips on how to address your downline’s problems on any issues they want help with, and what to write when sending your weekly messages to your team.

You can also learn from answers to questions in Ask SC and use their answers relevant to you to frame your own response when communicating with your team.

Invest in yourself by purchasing good quality books from TripleClicks, which are often featured as Hot Deals. One such book , “What To Say When you Talk to Your Self” by Shad Helmstetter, Ph.D. It’s an easy to read pocketbook that not only helps you with positive thinking but gives ideas in discovering your talents, to learn how to take time and listen and communicate, and to focus on the things you can control- yourself.

There are other great self-help books around. SFI has plenty of reading materials and other resources to help with developing good communication skills.

I believe in power of choosing who you are, no matter what others say. So: try to discover why are you so sure that your communication skills are not good?
There is nothing you can't overcome.
Especially in communication area, when we live in age where communication and information are available in every possible form.
Just choose which one is the most suitable for you, writing e-mails, chatting, live talk, via phone or applications that provide live video so you can see the person... If you start to communicate with member friendly and worm, I am pretty sure that you will continue in that manner.

But you must pay attention to adequately addressing the needs of your members. And that's really simple: just be available, approachable, ready to help, professional and motivated. I see all of my members as the reflection and projection of me at the beginning, we have all been there, just remember how you felt and what you needed then.
Information can be presented in many forms, but it must be accurate and helpful, as much as possible.

Of course, you can't always be in your comfort zone, people are different, but it is not hard to adapt or to suggest the way of communicating that suits you best.

I personally think that you are and will be very good sponsor, because you asked this question. That means that you are thinking about that and intend to be the best you can.

The more you practice & exercise sending team mailing, to your csa's, psa's, entire group mailing, emails, stream posts, live chats, you'll learn as you go to get better at it.

Practicing,getting & giving information at the Forum, Asks SC, amongst a2a friends, responding to all these, will give you even more practice.

The longer you remain with SFI, you really won't have much choice but to learn how to communicate.
If you really want to become a good supporting sponsor, communicating with your team, every week,will be a plus!

To me, I feel there is nothing that cannot be achieved in this life if you make efforts at them.
The way you have put this question, is in itself one proof of the fact that you already have the skill of communication, but maybe you thought you don’t.
However, for the purpose of this question, let’s suppose you don’t have, and you now want to learn how to communicate well with your downline. I’ll suggest a few points:

1. You can start by making use of SFI’s Tailor-made communications with your Team. Study also how those pieces are structured, and use them as materials to learn how to write like that.

2. You can also buy a book or two on EFFECTIVE COMMUNICATION or PUBLIC SPEAKING, and use them to learn the art of communication. In addition to that, obtain a dictionary for proper GRAMMAR & WORD usage.

3. Another means is to make use of the SK-SC portion of SFI, to study how people communicate and express themselves. Then attempt to emulate them.

4. SFI FORUM is another area. There you join a group of people who make attempts at solving problems in SFI. Study the art of communication there and make your own attempts at solving some of the problems.

5. Finally, one other good means is to join local clubs, study how people communicate there, and make efforts to offer few relevant speeches there yourself.
