When I joined several years ago, I did not know much about the internet or how I could use it to make money. I knew that SFI was a good opportunity, but I needed to continue to learn how to make it work for me. I never had a strong sponsor, but those who were above him contacted me with their team mails, and I learned from them.

When the co-sponsor concept started, I was given a great person who stays in contact with me so I now have help when I need it. I gave up on my sponsor because he has never been anything more than a name with a picture. In fact, I have never seen him go any higher than EA2 and I passed him a long time ago.

Here is my point. I think that a good sponsor and co-sponsor can be priceless because they can help you grow your business by leaps and bounds. However, there really is nothing you can do if you end up with a "dead-beat" sponsor. And because of the lack of control over your sponsor, the best you can do is work hard to become the best sponsor or co-sponsor you can be for others.

The importance of a sponsor or co-sponsor depends on how good they are. If they are good, they are priceless. If they are bad, they are worthless.

Having a good sponsor/co-sponsor is a bonus. I do believe that you are the one that will decide whether you are going to make a success of this business or not. If you join and read and do all the things on your to do list from the beginning, then you have seen the potential of SFI and will continue with or without a good sponsor/co-sponsor.
I have had little contact with my sponsor and even less with my co-sponsor, this has not deterred me from carrying on. I have had to find out a lot of things on my own, the forum has been my class and I have learnt more from the forum than from my sponsor. In fact I missed out on a lot of things in the first days of SFI because no one told me what I needed to do to reach certain milestones.
So if you have a great sponsor, then count yourself lucky. I personally feel that if you want to succeed you will and at the end of the day it is up to you to work your business, your sponsor is the lucky one as he/she earns off your success

Sponsoring new sign ups is the core activity in network marketing business. Team Leaders in SFI know the importance of bringing in new affiliates consistently to expand the growth of their SFI business.

How can you be a good sponsor/co-sponsor to your affiliates and see the importance of being a sponsor/co-sponsor?

- You let your affiliates feel welcomed, with your friendly welcome message on their first day as members of your team. This will help them to feel at ease, give them a warm atmosphere and sense of belonging to your team.

- Create an environment of friendship and teamwork in mentoring them.

- Provide friendly guidance and support in a timely manner.

- Offer one-on-one relationships to help his/her team members in their personal development and growth.

- Keep his/her team sharp focused on set goals and encourage them to keep moving forward at all times.

- Keep his/her team members up-to-date on the latest marketing strategy for expanding the growth of his/her SFI organization.

- Keep his/her team working together with a team spirit by encouraging them to visit the SFI Forum where team members can get together and share their ideas and experiences about their activities in building their network.

- Keeping the principles stated in “Be an Awesome Sponsor.”

- As the Team Leader/sponsor/co-sponsor, you must set the standard for each of your team members. Your own excitement about your SFI business is enough to keep your members motivated and moving forward. If you truly believe in your business and can show your belief through enthusiasm and desire, your team will see it in you and will work harder towards reaching your goals. You must always be the motivating force and guiding light. Your team will look to you for their motivation and when they see it they will believe it.

Conclusion:
Being a sponsor/co-sponsor, practicing your role as stated above, can make a difference in your organization. Your team members will clearly see your examples and the importance of having a sponsor/co-sponsor.

Always teach your team to work together through your own actions and in training them. When you emphasized to them to work together on a personal level as well as on a business level, you’re creating a robust team.

This all depends on how well you know yourself.

Are you the type of person who needs to have all the steps spelled out in order to progress? Do you need to have someone available to answer any questions or help you solve problems right away?

If this describes you, then having an active sponsor/co-sponsor will be important for you. However, I will suggest that you try to release this mind-set as it is how you operate as an employee.

You are now a business owner and need to learn to be independent.

For those folks who do not need a lot of help or are independent enough to find out answers for themselves, having a good sponsor/co-sponsor really doesn't matter at all. It is nice for these folks to get monthly newsletters or occasional E-cards, but isn't a requirement for success.

I am fortunate enough to have an awesome sponsor as well as co-sponsor and their support and advice makes it a lot easier for me to hang in there and not give up BUT at the end of the day your success will depend on you. Your sponsor and co-sponsor's best efforts will not be enough if you do not come to the party and give your best as well.

Ok - now you were unfortunate and you signed up with or you were assigned to a sponsor that never logs on, do not react to your messages or e-mails and can not answer your questions. You decide to go to the next in line - your co-sponsor and you find he or she is no different than your sponsor. What now?

You have more people in your up-line you can try or you can go to the Forum to get help or you can take a look in the mirror and ask yourself the question - how bad do I want to succeed? Do I really need somebody to hold my hand? If the answers are - I want to and I will succeed and I do not need anybody to hold my hand, you are going to push ahead and learn as much as you can without your sponsor or co-sponsor. SFI gives you all the tools you need to succeed.

It is sad that your sponsor and co-sponsor let you down - but you can do it without them if you want to succeed.

The role of each is simply mentoring others to be personally achieving the dreams that are hoped for when one becomes an affiliate with SFI.

A good sponsor and co-sponsor are part of your up-line to model effective strategies, to share experiences of both success and the falling down and getting up moments.

The SFI organization is built on collaboration and the first line for this essential ingredient to SFI success are good sponsors and co-sponsors.

If no one was good at it we would not be here today with SFI if we did not have exposure to good sponsors and co-sponsors.

Honestly I believe it is not important to have a good sponsor or co-sponsor. I do believe it can be advantage.

In my case my sponsor has contacted me maybe ten times in the ten months I have been with SFI. He does not have English a a first language and has been unwilling to communicate for this reason. I only hear infrequently from my co-sponsor.
Their few communications has not stopped me from becoming a BTL and on three occasions a STL.
I am currently the first in my class. I am building a team. I have over 1000 affiliates and I earn some commissions. I regularly wins the Eager Zebra games, I have won Knockout Trivia 34 times. I have a SO in place. I have won some of the other prizes as well.

I may or may not have progressed quicker if I had the benefit of a good sponsor. I took nearly one month to get going. I joined on June 29th last year and missed out on the first rounds of E365. Once I discovered I could get a second chance I quickly became BTL. Also as a result of starting late my VP streak and EA streak is a bit short. Still my both VP streaks are 286 days and AE 9 months.

So while it is not important to have a good sponsor and co-sponsor it could be advantageous.

Throughout SFI you see the idiom :"Leaders are readers".

So adopt the motto, “If it’s to going be, it’s up to me.”. Just as I have done.
Accept responsibility for your own life and stop looking to others to be responsible for you.

I think that having a good sponsor/ co-sponsor is very important! Not only does a good sponsor provide you the support and encouragement to keep going but it also role models the SFI way. Good sponsors can help by offering encouragement, tips, suggestions, tools, information on what has worked or is working for them. They can also make the program more personal by letting you know that you are a part of their team, which is one of the foundations of the SFI program.

Each and every affiliate/member is blessed though because SFI is a great sponsor! The support and encouragement offered within the pages of this website are invaluable! I am convinced that everything a member needs is contained within these pages and that this program is designed and developed so that every affiliate will have all the support they both need and want.

This is a very interesting questions, and there is more than one answer to it. I would say - it depends on many things.
Firstly, a good sponsor / co-sponsor can be most helpful in the beginning, during the first or second month in SFI. Their support and guidance can save you time and energy if they direct you to all the actions you should do. Secondly, it is encouraging if your sponsor / co-sponsor praise your early efforts and achievements. Simple messages, such as "Congratulations!" or "Well done!" mean a lot to a beginner, they can show you that you are on the right way to make a success in this business.
On the other hand, SFI has all the materials prepared for a person determined to do this business. If a person wants to work, he/she will work, with or without a sponsor. Launchpad lessons explain what needs to be done step by step. There are marketing aids and methods prepared and explained, there is VPLedger to track points, and Forum where answers for virtually any possible question can be found.
In conclusion, I can say this: it is important to have a good sponsor and co-sponsor, but they are not a must - the whole SFI community acts as a sponsor for someone who is willing to learn and work.

Very!

Beside the fact that we can all and all did need some sort of guidance when we first started with SFI, to have a good Sponsor and/or Co-Sponsor is invaluable, so much so that there is an entire section located under the "Training" heading on your member page dedicated to educating us on the many important facets of being and becoming an effective Sponsor/Co-Sponsor.

Also, and this is strictly my opinion but, I believe that having a "good Sponsor/Co-Sponsor" speaks loudly in a positive way about the effectiveness of all the training and support provided to SFI affiliates!

In otherwords, to have either or both a good Sponsor/Co-Sponsor shows that the program works exactly the way it was designed, and that if either of these two people or both are good at Sponsoring/Co-Sponsoring that they understand and are extremely knowledgeable and I dare say obedient to carry out every task as outlined by the training.

Noone should be doing this alone and so it has been designed that noone will be alone, even if they do not have a good example of either.

If it were not important to have either SFI would not make available to those affiliates who are not satisfied with their sponsor the option to be given a new one.
