To build a successful SFI business, how much should I rely on my sponsor?

Good day to you,
The answer to this question is not as simple as you may think. Some people find it easy to just go off on their own and make a success of themselves, yet others need some support from those above them, others need to be physically dragged along and at some point they find their feet and move on.
My personal preference is that your sponsor is their to guide you, they cannot run your business for you.
You have to do the daily tasks, monthly and weekly tasks. You must put out ads, read Launchpad and SFI basics. Take time to read lessons in reference section. Of course you can ask your sponsor and upline to explain things you may not understand.
You can ask them what would be the best way to invest any funds you may have in your business. Ask as many questions as you like, but they are not responsible for your success, only you can succeed. In life every choice you make is your decision and you are responsible for that decision, you and you alone.
If you succeed congratulations to you, if you fail you have chosen to fail.
All the best, just run with it.

Can I be successful in SFI without investing any money? And if so, how?

Yes I think you can be successful in SFI without investing any money. However, it does take longer to achieve the desired goal. I do think that if you can, you should try and invest something.
This is what works for me:
Sign in everyday and do the tasks on your to do list Make sure that you complete everything that gives you free vp. By signing in everyday you will be sure not to miss out as these points will not be available again.
Make sure that you enter the DG draw.
Do all the weekly and monthly tasks.
Now once you have done those, you will need to invest money to get Tcredits to play some games which give you points, also purchases at Tripleclicks give you VP's.
So I placed a SO for 20 TC pack which is a small investment and you get a lot of VP.
You need to look at this business from what you can afford to do, everything here is a suggestion of what you can do, look at what you can afford to invest to get your business off the ground.
even the smallest cash investment gets you much needed points.
I hope this helps and good luck.

I feel my welcome message to PSAa is stale. How can I freshen it up? Sample welcome letters appreciated.

Good question! I know that there is a sample letter but I find that it is easier to just type my own message. Because no matter how you try to change the sample, it comes across as a standard blurb.
Each welcome I type is different, so it would be something like this-
Hi (name),
Welcome to my team, I am your sponsor/co-sponsor. I would like to congratulate you on making a really wise choice with SFI and I wish you all the best with your new business. Please do not hesitate to ask if you have any questions about SFI, I am always available to answer questions or to help you in any way I can. Your success is my success, let's be successful together.
I just let the words come to me, no pressure on them to do anything. After a day or two you send them another message via psa mailer and you will have checked their status in genealogy so you can see where they are struggling and encourage them with helpful hints.
All the best and hope this helps.

How important is it to have a good sponsor and co-sponsor?

Having a good sponsor/co-sponsor is a bonus. I do believe that you are the one that will decide whether you are going to make a success of this business or not. If you join and read and do all the things on your to do list from the beginning, then you have seen the potential of SFI and will continue with or without a good sponsor/co-sponsor.
I have had little contact with my sponsor and even less with my co-sponsor, this has not deterred me from carrying on. I have had to find out a lot of things on my own, the forum has been my class and I have learnt more from the forum than from my sponsor. In fact I missed out on a lot of things in the first days of SFI because no one told me what I needed to do to reach certain milestones.
So if you have a great sponsor, then count yourself lucky. I personally feel that if you want to succeed you will and at the end of the day it is up to you to work your business, your sponsor is the lucky one as he/she earns off your success

How can a disabled person with no marketing skills build a successful business with SFI?

SFI is probably the ideal business opportunity for a disabled person. They can work from home in an environment they are comfortable in. Most of us that join SFI have no marketing experience, we all learn from reference library, sponsor and co-sponsor and a2a. As well as from forum and launchpad lessons.
As long as they are prepared to read and learn and do, there is no reason a disabled person cannot succeed in building a successful SFI business
