Hello, Bamidele Oluwole.
There are two major aspects to your question.
Both aspects are fully answered within SFI “Solutions” posts as well as “QA”.
.
1. Every month, begins a new qualification process to earn our SFI commissions and rank:
We start again from Affiliate, to Executive Affiliate, and through the five grades of Team Leadership: Bronze, Silver, Gold, Platinum and Diamond. Our next month’s rank will be wherever we end this current month.
Tell your affiliate team members that it is to their advantage. It is to help them compete on fair grounds in SFI leadership. The facts that VersPoints are counted on a monthly basis, and the count restarts from ground zero, offer to every affiliate the opportunity to rank as high as their monthly achievements.
The official SFI explanation is under the link below.

Thus, our standing on the monthly leadership board is not affected by anything else expect what we do in that month.
Direct your team members to the monthly VP Leadership board

For example, if you follow the link above, your will see that, today, April 13, 2015, the # 1 top ranking affiliate joined SFI only a year ago. You will notice, below him, other affiliates who have been here 15 years earlier and who have higher team leadership rank.
This monthly leadership ranking can change every day. If you were to take massive action today that yields enough results, you can find yourself tomorrow at the top of the monthly leadership board.
Our monthly sales and sponsoring results determine also our monthly commission. The activity we and our team (downline, up to 12 levels, and CSAs ) generate is the basis of our monthly commission. Again, this is truly to the advantage of the affiliates who joined SFI at later stages.
There are no specific perks attached to the fact that one has joined SFI 5 years, 10 years, or 15 years ago, except the fact that they have built teams and are earning matching EA2 points from the work that team does on a monthly basis.
A new SFI affiliate has the same opportunities to build their team and earn commissions in a similar fashion.
All the relevant data is monitored and made easily accessible and comprehensively presented to us on our daily “Scoreboard” tab. From this tab, we can see where we stand each day of the month. We have no excuse if we miss our monthly goals or we fall below our own expectations.
We have all the information we need to take action for better results.
I personally find this very exciting and very stimulating: knowing that nothing is writing in stones. We decide what our rank is. We can change it every day.
Although what we earned the previous months does not have any bearing on this monthly process, we are not losing it. It is counted in our overall power rank, SFI wide. Your question refers to this part.
2. Other than one-time action points, all others VP expire within 180 days.
This is the second major aspect concerning VP longevity, which your question does not explicitly address.
The reasons why VPs expires after six months is fully explained in solutions.
https://www.sfimg.com/Support/Solution?catid=26444&id=77222
The fact that VPs expire after six months does not affect our earnings at all.
Those reasons of this expiration can be summarized as follows:
(i) To save database space and allow faster loading of all the pages on which we work on a daily basis.
(ii) To level the playing field so that all affiliates have the same opportunities to rise in monthly ranks. This has been explained above in details.
The total VersaPoints that remain are the basis for determining our overall Power rank within SFI, our country rank and our class rank.
3. Class Rank is the third aspect of VersaPoints value
Class rank pertains only to all the affiliates who joined SFI on the same day. For example, all affiliates who will join SFI today, Monday, April 13, 2015, will have the same class.
The E365 Competition is based on class. At the end of the 365 days period, the affiliate who has the largest amount of VP will be the Class Champion, regardless of their overall rank or team leadership rank.
