Hi Sandra
The answer to your question is Yes and No. I'l share my experience. When your PSA wants to be a Team Leader, i'l advice you that you should give them a chance to prove their leadership skills and to enhance it as their sponsor.
Support also by advising such to get an S builder or PSAs To Go to build their team towards the next qualifying month. 0r you can reassign some of your PSAs to them to help them, thus motivating them more and if they run into any problem, be there to help them. Don't pinpoint 'i know this won't work'. It can.
My experience was this: last year one of my active PSAs qualified as an EA and wanted to be a BTL. He'd 5 PSAs as at that time but they were all inactive, so i told him to slow down to allow his team to become EA2s. I wanted to help him save cost that would later not yield any profit since he won't be having matching Vps and it could lead to discouragement for him. As at that time i just qualified as a BTL. So he dropped it and became an EA2. Along the line when he saw that i'd become a Team Leader, he became discouraged thinking i didn't want him to advance and be successful as i was doing. I already had 4 EA2s, he wasn't and he didn't see it. He became inactive ever since influencing his active PSAs as well. I was devastated. I thought within me, 'may be i should have allowed him and let him know the cons and what to do to maintain it, that would have made him active till today'.
But on the other hand, i told myself i did the right thing. If i'd helped him to qualify as BTL and had no team to back him up, and he didn't qualify the next month because of no team, he would see his investment as a loss and would see SFI has another scam. So i told myself that one day he'l come to the realization of what i've done for him and be grateful. I learnt a lesson from this. So when one of my active PSAs this year came along to want to become a Team Leader, i didn't stop her, i only told her the requirements and the requirements necessary to maintain it. Immediately she knew what to do, she started recruiting people. She was fast.
So Sandra, i'l advice you to tell your PSA the truth of the pros and cons of being a Leader quickly and the requirements of becoming one and maintaining the position.
When i wanted to become a team leader and i'd a little challenge, SFI support desk told me that BTL is not just about the position is about building a team. I was close to becoming a STL last month with short of 399. I told myself no, there's no need to hurry, my team will get me there someday, first i need to help them succeed
