I think it is the best idea to send personalized welcome letters to new PSA's I do that always.
If the list of new PSA's are long at times it is then type you letter on the Microsoft word and then copy and paste on the t-mail box. Body of the letter always is the same and you can change names accordingly.
This make it very easy.

By personalizing the letters you come to know the person individually by name and even remember them otherwise it is very difficult to remember every name. And also when your PSA receives your welcome letter and sees it addressed to him/her it will give them a form of realization and a sense of belonging.

I say yes it is advantageous to create personalized welcome letters. But a generic one will do at first. The reason is that you don't need to waste your time barking up the wrong tree. Give them some time to get adjusted to SFI. Monitor their daily activity. Someone that logs in sporadically has a higher likelihood of dropping out than someone who is consistently adding points. Be available to ask questions but let them work at a pace that they are comfortable with.

Then after you see that they have earned some badges and then use their profile to point them in the right direction. Once you've done that it is up to the individual to follow your recommendations. I've been doing this for years now and very few affiliates ever are as consistent as I have been by my badges. While logging in and doing daily activities is paramount if you miss a day it's not the end of the world since sales is the driving force behind your commission check and not points. You can set your financial destiny by calculating the number of sales it would take for your affiliates to meet their financial goals. Make sure they understand this information.

This would personalize your approach and would be much more appreciated by the recipient.
Building your welcome letter addressing their preferences and goals would provide the required motivation to them to take it forward.

It should focus on how they can achieve their goals with specific information provided in the letter with the importance of each tool you mention to them? You need to relate how a particular tool can help achieve their targets?

Also create a path for them to follow so that it is easier for them to understand the significance of your stage wise guidance showing them the future course in advance.

If these things are addressed correctly, it becomes one of the powerful tool to help them achieve their dreams here at SFI.

As human beings, we like to think we are special, and receiving a personalized letter from the sponsor, will ensure that
1. You are human too, not just a generic mail
2. Will motivate me to at least give the site a try

From my experience, and what I do, is when I receive notification of a new PSA, or CSA, I send a general Team mail, welcoming them, and giving some tips in how to start.

I than follow that with a personalized E-Card, and I find using the E-cards, is the best way to contact your new affiliates, as you can write your greeting, and than translate it to your affiliates language.

Also E-cards tend to reach the affiliate quicker than your general mail, and most upon receiving it, will reply, even if they only say " hello", some will ask about the E-cards, and that is a good way for you to start telling a new prospect about SFI/ TripleClicks

So to reply to your question, YES, it is worth the time you spend personalizing your welcome letters, using the information submitted from Affiliate profile, and mentioning some salient point, either how many hours they can spend working SFI, or how many people they can sponsor, etc, so they can see you have read what as been submitted, you are taking an interest in them, and more so, if you send them, in an E-Card, specially to non English Speaking affiliates

Hi Sharon,

I have my own welcome letters I send out which, to be honest, are long enough. I do read and use Affiliate Profiles, especially when my team member is lacking in an area. ("I wrote that I can spend $100-$200 per month but so far I don't log in everyday and I haven't spent a cent.")

I like using the Affiliate Profile so I can see what my team member's background is and what they will be prepared to do or invest in their SFI business. Personally, I wait to use the information until it's needed. (After all, they have just joined and I don't want to come across as "Affiliate Profile! I caught you! No, I'm not a spy..."

If you are going to use some information from their Affiliate Profile, I would keep it light in a welcome letter. You could say "Like you, I never had my own business before I joined SFI and now I feel I am successful." (If it's true and it sounds better than "I don't work my SFI business, I'm dirt poor and I'm such a Loser!")

I think it's great if a Team Leader reads Affiliate Profiles. Yes, I know from personal experience that they take time to read but two (2) things:

1) They're my team member and I'm their Team Leader; and

2) A huge one for me, I'm an extremely curious person so I must (find out)

This inspired me. Just a minute ago I came up with an idea for a Quick Filter (I love to use the Quick Filter in Genealogy): To use certain elements of Affiliate Profiles in Quick Filter for Mailer (PSA, CSA, Genealogy Group) purposes. I'll submit my idea to the SFI Suggestion Box.

Definitely! Think about it. Someone gets a welcome letter, realised that their sponsor is in the US and they are on the other side of the world. To get to the level of their sponsor they would feel that it is a bit farfetched. Why? Because maybe exchange rate is too big for them to be comfortable in USD, or maybe the culture is different and not welcoming towards internet businesses.

What if this particular person receives a welcome letter that states "I noticed you are from xxxx. There are various affiliates from xxxx who have attained success and each of them are willing to help guide you". I think this would be a more welcoming letter than a general one.

It is worthwhile to create individual, personalized letters to new PSA. Every man considers himself the only and unique human beings. We all love when someone is attentive to us, we may not want to admit it, but it is so. We all like to hear a nice thing and to feel welcome. If you take advantage of this information, your new member will feel privileged and special. he'll be happy that someone is bothered about it. He will get the impression that you genuinely care.

But you should send a welcome letter to new PSA who didn't fill his Affilate Profile. perehaps he was confuse and didn't know what to do. Indifference and neglect often do much more damage than outright dislike.

To be brief--the answer is yes..Let me explain:
For the new Affiliate every thing is new, strange and creates a sense of insecurity very quickly, in case he/she is taken in to confidence and reassured that I (am your sponsor) is here to take care of you. Well! How do we create that high sense of security or I may call belongingness in the mind of Affiliate who has just joined? The safest, best and to put it emphatically, this is the only way! In view of this immediately after joining of the affiliate, it is highly desirable that the sponsor, co-sponsor or whosoever is in that position write a warm welcome letter giving a personal greeting, a few affectionate words. This especially holds good for such of the affiliates who have come with a determination to do something significant, that will have a magical effect on the psyche of the new affiliate. They are also sensitive to such seemingly such inconsequential and insignificant acts. But then "The first impression is the best impression". If we have succeeded in that attempt to take him in to our fold, well 50% of the story is over and he is with us (SFI). O.K.!

Then how to identify such a sensitive guy among several hundreds of such new affiliates?
Well nigh, it is impossible. That is the reason why to such of the new affiliates and all of them, there is every need to shoot out the welcome letters. I do not minding taking trouble of sending a hundred such letters. If at least 2 to 5% of them have reacted to such warm welcome letters, my purpose is subserved. The SFI has introduced such of the sensitive measures not just for the sake of introducing, but with a lot of foresightedness and farsightedness. Let us respect such conventions. If you go a bit far it gives the impression to the new entrant that he/she has come to a right Business and they will not like to part with such an Organization with such significant traditions. I mean in other words, it reflects on your Institution.

Next part of your question:With information from the Affiliates'Profile. Is it needed? Not at all. After all. It is an introductory warm welcome. We need not have to worry about that. I think this is something more easily determined by your individual recruitment style.

Some people recruit friends and “new friends,” and are very particular as to who and how many people are joining their team. Others use the spaghetti against the wall method. Sign up everyone in sight, and beyond, and those who stick are keepers/movers.

If you are of the former ilk you may very well want to personalize your welcome letters since you may know your new affiliates or at least have convinced them to fill out their profile as soon as signing up.

If, however, you do mass signups, either purchased or through your own marketing system it will be almost impossible to personalize anything until you see who is really interested and who are the “tire kickers.”

My own techniques vary so I have two or three general letters that I can easily edit for individuals as needed or do a mass mailing without sounding too regimented (making liberal use of the Genealogy mailers ~FIRSTNAME~ feature).
