Absolutely yes where practicable! This is because one of the most effective welcome letters is to give your PSA a sense of personal attention and understanding. This is one of the very reasons we have the Affiliate Profile which is defined in SFI Glossary as:
"A key component of SFI's powerful personalized training and support programs. Be sure to update and edit your profile to reflect current information about your business, thereby getting the best, most pertinent personalized training from the SFI system. However, I will not advice you to make your understanding of their personalities the main focus of your first letter because you may put your PSAs under immediate pressure which may back fire, but you may subtly chip in one or 2 personalised aspects like expected monthly income, expected rank within a specified period and type of car. Based on these, you may include the following lines in your welcome letter:
....you have a great ambition regarding your monthly and rank expectations which are very possible within your time specification.....however, you need to work hard, be determined, be persistence and work with me to achieve your desired objectives......as we work to achieve your success, I will be in close contact with you but do not hesitate to contact me if you need any assistance......this is also how you can realise your dream car, Ford Lincoln, but it will certainly not come on a platter of gold, so lets go to work immediately....
Personalised letters are very effective because they address the direct problems associated with or issues peculiar to individual members of your downline, so it is not only necessary to reflect this in your welcome letter, but also important to approach it as a work-in-progress (WIP), required in letters regarding training, assistance and mentoring.
It is important to mention that as your new PSAs get larger, it becomes very difficult to do personalised letters, but may become practicable as the 'fog' settles gradually and you can see who is who clearly among them. I will add that the best time to do personalised letters, where your new PSAs are in droves will probably be when your Movers are established.
One important point is not to be carried away by the information supplied by your new PSAs in their affiliate profile because most of them just complete it without paying attention to or having the understanding of the purpose. As a team leader, you may therefore need to frequently remind your PSAs the purpose and importance of their affiliate profiles in order to be more useful to you, in your attempt to use it for training and mentoring purposes.
