Take it from experience, you can always "encourage" your affiliates (downline, team) with words of encouragement, but to make them "stay active" well, that's something altogether different. What you must first take into consideration is the "built-in" desire of each individual in your downline. That "built-in" desire can be seen by his/her daily activity. Monitor them daily, if possible, and construct periodic emails with words of "encouragement" based on the performances of your most active people. Use them (your MOST active people) as part of the basis for delivering your words of encouragement to the others (Your Less Active People).
As far as "coming across as selfish or as a dictator" as you put it, you must also take into consideration the words you are using and how you are using them. For example, "don't" is one of the more common words used in emails of all kind. Instead of saying to one of your downline members "don't" contact me before you look up the answers for yourself, say something like, "As part of your early-on training, please log onto your Training INDEX (https://www.sfimg.com/Training/) and click on 'Getting Started Training' or any one of the other training fields. If you are still unsure, feel free to contact me personally by leaving me a message at the affiliate center, or email me directly at:
[email protected].'"
Point is, Janet, you want them to become less dependent on you right from the start, but you do it by being kind and supportive while keeping the lines of communication and support open to them.
