Often, when you are engaged in a dialogue with the prospect, he or she will be asking more questions than yourself. The prospect is keen to know what this new idea is, how it works and how it will impact his or her life. The prospect will also be wondering whether they have the means or the capacity to succeed. The dialogue can be either face-to-face or online and either way, your art of listening is vital if you are to get your message through.
Before you answer, take time to listen to the prospect and when necessary, let him or her feel your presence by expanding on their doubts with short questions from your side. In most cases, face-to-face dialogue offers you a greater chance to communicate your message effectively because listening becomes more than just words. If the prospect has already signed up, then online, “ Chat” is the closest thing to face-to-face dialogue.
When the prospect is comfortable with your presence then you will also find it easier to communicate. A good leader is a good listener and is able to sense whether the prospect is getting the message or not.
If you already have affiliates on your team, by making the most of the communication resources available at SFI, such as PSA and CSA mailer, Genealogy, E-cards and Chat, you can slowly develop your listening skills. This is because leadership can be learned and every small dialogue with your affiliates brings in something new.
Furthermore, this is not all because once your listening abilities with those you already have on your team develop, you will also find it easier to listen and sell your marketing ideas to those who are outside.
