In my opinion,in order to get people involved,you have to be involved yourself.
You have to have real proof of your success and to try everything in order to be able to speak from YOUR OWN experience. You do not have to copy others stories or talk from others experience,but you can have your own.
People can feel when you are being honest and when you know what you're talking about. Then it is easier for them to believe and they can trust you more.
