"Drip Marketing" is essentially a way of using autoresponders or other automated messengers to send a bunch of pre-written messages out on a regular basis. It's best used alongside other automated processes that work with large volumes of traffic. Keep in mind, though, that like other automated processes, it takes "the human element" of communication out of the picture, which means you're likely to reduce the amount of your responsiveness to individuals.
