I feel that you must sponsor PSAs regularly to help you pick up EAs who will become active and then work towards building their own team. Both functions work simultaneously.
Your goal must therefore be to sponsor and support and when this happens you get a balance of achieving both goals.
If your goal is to sponsor 5 PSAs each year then you are limiting your EAs to 5 or less. However, if you sponsor 500 PSAs in one year, your chances of having more EAs are higher than 5. There is no guarantee, however that in the 500 you will get more than 5 EAs but the probability is high. Having said that, if you sponsor 5 PSAs, you can also have 5 active EAs who will develop their own team. Therefore, you will need to consider the manner in which you have sponsored your EAs and where they are coming from. Other peripheral factors come into play in determining whether the PSAs will become EAs or not.
Once you understand that you are in this business to build a strong team (foundation) under you which means "duplication", that is where your core interest should lie. Thereafter your work to support and help your PSAs takes you to the next stage of your business expansion. Both goals overlap and you cannot ignore one and pursue the other.
