I want to tell you something about me to explain my answer.
I am able to go somewhere, park my car and on my way through the parking lot say Hi to a total stranger and often end up in a conversation with the person and by the time we reach the entrance I know some personal stuff that I id not ask about - they just seem to open up to me - a stranger - without missing a beat. I can tell you about an opportunity or product I believe in and you would buy into it with no doubt that you want it or need it. Yet - despite this I suck at sales. Why? Say I sell a machine that can cure just about every disease known to man - I know you need it, you know you need it, but you tell me you just can not afford the machine because you are barely making ends meet (and I can see or know this is true). My moral values will not allow me to convince you that you can not afford to buy it. Closer to SFI - we all know a standing order is the best way to go - so I suggest it to my affiliates, but I do not push for it.
When you meet up with friends and family you feel comfortable right? You usually ask how its going and what have you been up to - and this is where you practise your face to face "selling" If you tell the about your business and you are positive and enthusiastic they would ask questions and you answer as positive and enthusiastic as possible. Do not strain the conversation by trying to get them to sign up, let them take the lead. So do not act like those irritating sales people you want to avoid - be contagious!!
By starting with your family and friends you get practise and gain confidence to go out there and talk to strangers the same way.
So my best advise will be to be open, honest, enthusiastic and positive and talk to people - do not try to convince. Your enthusiasm etcetera will sell it.
