I will not advice you to criticize your downline in any form because they are not your workers or rivals, but see them as partners that have their individual missions, objectives, goals, styles, strengths and weaknesses. What is actually expected of you is to guide, communicate, encourage, assist and lead them in a positive way in order to enhance their chances of success.
In this regard I think the best action will be to offer 'constructive' and selfless advice where necessary and desist from pushing hard when your advice is ignored. But the question is how do you offer this advice without putting them off?
Firstly, you must lead by example and it will be morally wrong and even annoying to advice your downline on what you do not do yourself; practice what you preach.
Secondly, it is counter productive to give an impression that your advice is based on your selfish desire rather than to help them because they may be agitated and sense exploitation.
Thirdly, rather than pay to much attention to issues that will just make them spend, emphasize the benefits and guide them to the source of information that will inform them better to make independent decisions where appropriate. For example instead to telling them to place a standing order in order to be EA, while not tell them the benefist of EA, transfer pricing, pricebender auction, promotion products to boost their businesses etc.
Fourthly, in my opinion it looks very professional to include sources of information forming the basis of your adviceor guidance, so that folks will not think your are just making things up. An example is to include the url when communicating an SFI or TC announcement, news or update.
lastly, it is important to build a reputation within your downline as a knowledgeable and well informed team leader in order to win their trust and to consequently make them react positively to your guidance.
