When I initiate an online chat with a new PSA, I would normally welcome the PSA, introduce myself, my rank, the country I come from, and pause with a friendly, "How are you?" to give the new PSA a chance to acknowledge me and respond.
Then I wait for the response, normally it takes a while, but I sit and wait, and when the new PSA comes on online, the next thing I would say is ask if the PSA is comfortable with logging in.
Depending on the answer, I will then give a short advice to take things easy, and give guidance in navigating the homepage.
I would also remind the new PSA of the Fast Track opportunity so that he/she can avail of the 200 VP bonus and a Fast Track Badge.
I would not waste too much time online when the time in between chat is getting longer, instead I would leave a short message to contact me and would finish off with giving my email address if further help is needed and bid goodbye. There's really no need for a lengthy discussion online as the new PSA may be feeling overwhelmed with the new information.
