First introduce yourself, then go into a general, friendly conversation as you would with any other acquaintance.
I would suggest, initially, staying with SFI as the subject, explaining their best options on starting (i.e., Fast Tracker Badge), then going on into training.
Explain that SFI is not a get-rich-quick program. It will require their regular attendance at SFI, doing daily tasks. Point out the benefit of reaching EA/EA2, then to concentrate on training before they strike out too far up the rank ladder. I, personally, reached Silver in my first month, have maintained BTL since then. It is not easy with only a small team, but it can be done.
Focus on training in first months of joining, as all else will come easier when they fully understand SFI. Let them know how to reach you, that you will always help them. Also, Forum and askSC are excellent additional sources of information and help.
Best wishes to your success, hope these thoughts are helpful:))...
