Hi Dan,
Dropshipping is a growing industry.
No stock to keep and no shipping to organise.
There are pitfalls to look out for.
The main pitfall is to make sure you are dealing with a reputable dropshipper. There are plenty of people out there calling themselves dropshippers when in reality they are little more than middle men raking the top off your profits. Steer away from dropshipping lists.
Take the time to have a real good look at companies that offer dropshipping. Don't be put off if they ask a small fee to join (as long as it's a small and one off fee). Not all dropshippers ask for a fee.
Before you advertise any products for a dropshipper place a small order yourself. Was it delivered within the time specified? Was it packaged well? Did it arrive in good condition? Will they deliver worldwide? What are their shipping fees?
These are all things your customers will looking for.
Do a Google search for reviews on the dropshipper. Don't rely on their own testimonials.
Check out their returns policy and make sure that it will work for you.
I've been using a dropshipper for 2 years now on TripleClicks and although occasionally there are problems (out of stock, non delivery) I've always been able to resolve these problems with the dropshipper to the customers satisfaction.
And that's what it's all about..."CUSTOMER SATISFACTION"
One last point, don't restrict yourself to one dropshipper. Once you've found one keep looking. You'll then be able to offer a good variety of products.
Good Luck
