Honestly as I think behind your question mentioned here you can find an other question which is your real question: Whether is it worth to me to start with this work or not?
The main important thing whether you would like to find the right answer for this question or it is just a reason for you to start later or not to start... independently from the correct answer... Hope that if you find the correct answer you will start immediately... but this is your choice and decision...
My answer for your question is the following:
1. You are right, SFI started in 1998... which was already 16 years back...
2. If you would like to find the answer for your question you should visit the "Power Rank Leaderboard" for All Affiliates... which will show you the results of the collected VPs during the last 6 months.
3. You will find there the following facts:
3.1. Among the top 10 Affiliates you will find 5 Partners who started in 2013 only.
3.2. Among them you can find 2 affiliates who started in 2012.
3.3. Among them is one person who started in 2011.
3.4. There is 1 person who started in 2000.
3.5. There is 1 person who started in 1999.
3.6. These great persons collecting 60.000 - 120.000 VPs/month!
4. What does it mean?
There are 8 people among the top 10 who started 13 years or later after the SFI start...
This is my way of thinking only... you have to find your answer... hope this can help during your efforts! Wish you all the best! Hope we will see you among the top Affiliates sooner or later!
