I absolutely believe that offline marketing can be every bit as effective as online - as long as it is done correctly. Experience with presentations, direct mail, trade shows, etc. is very helpful and will undoubtedly be an immense help. Don't forget or discount the marketing materials that are available to us from SFI. The TripleClicks car banner is one of them. Then there are flyers with tear-away tabs for you to put your gateway on and hang on bulletin boards at stores, colleges, bars, and any other pulic place you can think of. There are even car magnets to use!
If you really think about it, traffic is much easier to get offline than it is online! Posting the flyers at supermarkets could easily get you several PSA's within a short time. Driving to work everyday, your car magnet or TC sign may be seen by thousands! This is way more than the traffic you get to go to your gateways online unless you are paying for advertising and really putting a lot of effort into your campaigns!
All that being said, both offline and online methods should be used to get the most from each method. It is really a matter of preference, time, and yes, budget. I have never seen a wildly successful business that doesn't have billboards, newspaper ads, coupons, flyers PLUS a website and online advertising. This gives you the best of both worlds.
