Great question. As a leader you dont have to know everything but you must be able to lead from the front.
Dont expect your team to do what you are not prepared to do as well.
Set an example- use your tools effectively. A great leadership tool is your daily Versa Point badge. You can only get this by logging in every single day. Your team will see the badge and know that you are serious about your business.
The affiliates will always have a look at your profile to see if you have the qualifications to be their leader so the more achievement badges you have , the better chance you have of motivating them.
If you are a new leader and havent collected many badges, be honest and tell them that you are new as well and want to take them with you to the top. Maintain your leadership page and state your goals so your affiliates can see your progress. Tell them about your successes in the weekly newsletter.
Acknowledge those affiliates who are achieving, everyone loves a pat on the back for a job well done.
Most importantly, when they ask you a question and you dont know the answer, be honest and tell them you will come back to them, give them a time, find the answer and revert back to them within that time.
To sum up - A great leader is a person of action, leads from the front, acknowledges achievement, communicates regularly and effectively with their affiliates and maintains an exemplary work ethic.
