This is a rather good question.
Engaging affiliates is something really important here, following their work and contacting them regularly. From my experience, or better said from things I've done here, creating a proper communication and trust relationship, on a regular daily or weekly basis, is highly important.
When I say on a daily basis, this isn't something that you have to do and "spam" your affiliates. Giving them a quick info on how they progress and correcting them if they are wrong, is something that you should do weekly with sending a Team Mail. Adding them on Facebook is also a great thing, getting to know them better, ask how they are and what they have and will done of their lives. This all makes a nice trust relationship between you and your affiliates. Don't bother them too much with your own success, instead of that, tell them how THEY can be successful here.
Also, rewarding them with some T-Credits upon achieving success is also a great idea and motivation for them to keep it up. Getting familiar with their success is important and encouraging them to go even further is also something that can make your affiliates not to give up on SFI.
