The advantage of free advertising is, an affiliate who is new in the business and has some financial challenges (especially in the initial days), cannot afford to spend money for paid advertisement. He can build his team by using free advertising. This will be a learning experience for a new affiliate about how to build a strong team and do right kind of sponsoring without taking any risk. But the disadvantage is, your progress will be very slow due to the quality of leads you generate. Also you need to do more numbers.
Once you are confident about building the business, and start making some income, you can always invest some money for paid advertisement.
Paid advertising option is suitable only for those affiliates, who are already confident about the business from the day one and also they can afford to invest to some extent. They have enough knowledge about network marketing and hence they don't want to waste time in experimenting. The major advantage of paid advertisement is, you can build your business quicker and faster as the quality of leads you generate is much better than the leads you generate from free advertising.
Now it is upto you to decide whether you want to go fast or slow in the business. Accordingly you can choose your method of advertising.
