If I had to target my advertising, I would make full use of Social Media first which is easy and totally free to use. No matter what medium you use, just make sure not to spam. Facebook in itself is a greater advertising medium. But Facebook has strict policies as compared to Google plus or other networks. Other social networks like Google plus, Twitter, Tumblr, Pinterest etc have always proved to be good source of traffic.
You can create attractive banner ads, images of the product you are advertising and post it. Many people are less bothered to read an article ad but they sure will check out the Banner. Just add the concerned link to the banner so that when the visitor clicks the banner it redirects them to the respective product page. Banners of Images are more powerful than any other medium because images express for themselves.
Place an autoresponder subscriber form on your Blog/website page which has the information about your ad/product. The interested people themselves will start pouring in. So you don't have to get to them, they themselves will come in to check for the details of what the ad is all about. This way you also have the list and you know that this particular prospect is interested in my xyz product/ad. In future you can target this prospect with a similar ad/product.
Forums are another great free sources. Search for forums specific to your niche or ad. Try to answer the questions and add your link as a signature. Some forums do have restrictions, check out for their Terms and Conditions.
There are many Traffic Exchange sites free an paid where you can post your ads and they reach out for many targeted prospects. I would prefer paid option because that gives more reliability for our ads to reach the crowd. This is really a targeted group of hungry people always eager to promote.
