Thank you for this question. As I pondered on how to best approach providing an answer, my mindset kept returning to that the real question really should not be as much about quantity as quality.
Quality can be found on both ends when considering the reassignment of PSAs to a member of your downline. The usual and most common questions we ask ourselves are “Is my downline member active? Will he/she appreciate the gift I am offering and actively work with the reassigned PSA?” As a dedicated leader to your team, it is important to consider these two questions prior to making any reassignments.
Now, most often when we consider doing reassignments, we only reassign less active or inactive PSAs, but what about reassigning active ones?
In either scenario, communication is critically important. When you reassign less active or inactive PSAs to your active downline member, I feel it is important to contact him/her to let them know that you feel that they are doing an amazing job and that you are reassigning some less active or inactive PSAs to them. Let them know your reason(s) for doing this, the most common reason being that everyone has different personalities and therefore different approaches to conducting their business, and their personal approach might be just what is needed to inspire those less active or inactive PSAs to become active.
Communication becomes even more important if you ever consider reassigning an active PSA to an active downline member. Or you could even consider reassigning your active PSA to an inactive downline member. First, with the active to active, you want to let your PSA that you are reassigning know how much you appreciate them and that they are, in no way, being punished by being reassigned. It is also important to introduce the PSA being reassigned to your downline member that you are reassigning them to.
Now, with regard to reassigning an active PSA to a less active or inactive downline member. As long as you communicate with your active PSA to let them know what is happening, then I feel this could be a very useful tool to activate members in our downline. When they start receiving commission notifications and such, that may very well be the trigger that inspires them to come back and take another look at their SFI business.
I hope this answer is useful to you.
