I think that all offers are not welcome for all and everyone should respect everyone's choice. We are all different and have different preferences. Taking no as an answer is best policy sometimes, and opens new perspectives.
You certainly have to leave door open for further cooperation, and try to materialize your success and re-motivate if there is a chance, but only by the way.
