I really think autoresponders are great tools. They should never be used to answer an affiliates question because connecting to an active affiliate is a critical step in duplicating your business. You should always respond with a personal answer to a personal question.
Autoresponders are great follow-up tools for 90% of your team which may be dormant. I send out at least one email to the entire group each week, this might be a great use of an autoresponder when I have enough of them to last a year. This also eliminates the frustration of not getting a response or my loss of interest over time.
For PSA's that are white listed I send an informative autoresponder newsletter which I think will help them build their business but most definitely send a personal note if they inquire about anything. I can promote my suggested tools to them because they are my most responsive mailing list.
CSA's and inactive PSA's I plan to send product information, SFI tips and promotions through an autoresponder.
It really helps to keep constant contact with inactive affiliates and prospects that have not joined yet because you never know when a person will be ready, willing, or able to join SFI or become a member of TripleClicks. It is a great marketing tool. I know this... it took me 2 years to respond to Stone Evans and I'm glad I saved all of his emails from his autoresponder in a folder with his name on it.
