How do I deal with PSAs who I offer unconditional support but still rate me poorly?
Initially, I feel hurt and unappreciated. I’m only human. But then when I sit down and think about it, I begin to rationalise and think in my PSAs position.
To my PSAs I am a nobody, only their Sponsor assigned to them by SFI, whom they do not know personally so they have no reason to feel duty bound to give me a good rating.
To them I’m still under probation, and until I can prove myself that I am one to listen to and follow they will continue to rate me as their consciences dictate.
Having this in mind, I begin to focus more on their needs for direction and guidance without expecting anything in return. In my weekly messages I would not mention any personal issues. Just point out that their rating, no matter how low, is appreciated as it gives me reason to improve myself and my leadership skills.
Not expecting anything at all, not even a rating, I feel free and more determined to improve myself and to build strong relationships with others on my team who appreciate my type of leadership. In time I get the 5-Star rating month after month from a few of both PSAs and CSAs which more than compensate for the others unwillingness to be fair. I have a clear conscience while they may be languishing in self-pity.
