"Leader is a person who rules or guides or inspires others".
I believe leadership and success are two entities. One can be a leader but whether he is successful or not is determined through many things. His knowledge, his attitude, his conduct and most of all his desire to be a successful leader.
There are many qualities that make a leader successful.
A few that applies to SFI, I will like to mention:
1. Mission: Leaders should know what their mission is?
2. Vision: Where do you want your team to go?
3. Goal: How is the team going to achieve its goal and how will you measure your progress?
4. Competency: Practically speaking, not all leaders immediately possess all of the characteristics that spell success. Many leaders learn along the way with hard work.
5. A strong team: Success rule #6: YOU succeed only if THEY succeed.
6. Communication skills: If the leader cannot easily and effectively convey his ideas nothing can make him successful.
7. A "can do, get it done" attitude: Nothing but achievement is the factor that motivates just about everyone across all cultures.
8. Inspiration: Quite often, employees need someone to look up to for direction, guidance, and motivation.
So successful leader is one has the above qualities.
1. "He who has never learned to obey cannot be a good commander". Aristotle
Any organisation whether big or small is run by a set of rules. SFI is no different. When we first register we all agree to abide by those rules and all those whom we see in the top ranking of SFI has always followed the rules.
Success Rule #3: Lead by Example.
2. "The quality of a man's life is in direct proportion to his commitment to excellence, regardless of his chosen field of endeavor". Vince Lombardi
Our leaders have a vast knowledge of the way SFI works. And this is not the result of one day logging in and registering with SFI. Nor have they achieved this knowledge at home. It is the result of their unshaken commitment and hard work spread over years. This is evident from the long list of Badges beside their names. They all follow the Success Rule #8 Leaders are readers.
3. Coming together is a beginning; keeping together is progress; working together is success. Henry Ford
Building up of a team and making that team work towards success is the qualification of a successful leader. Rule #4: Work with the workers.
4. "The first step in the acquisition of wisdom is silence, the second listening, the third memory, the fourth practice, the fifth teaching others".
Solomon Ibn Gabriol
There are many examples of people who have climbed the stairs of success over night. Most of the time it is luck but whether or not they will stay on that position will be determined if they possess the above mentioned qualities.
