Since we are allowed to promote more than one or two products, and since there are so many good products available for us to promote, and since there are millions of places to advertise, I think we should target customers and promote items they would want, and or need.

It's great to be able to promote one product and have thousands buying it, but not realistic. Each of our 5000 products have a buying public. We have to find it.
My vinyl record albums are of interest only to a very few people, but those people will buy if I can bring their attention to them.
Try to match interest with value and shipping cost to your intended public. And advertise many different items to different groups.
There's a lot of talk about niches. Find yours.
