Some of the biggest mistake we should avoid when advertising are as follows:-
1. If you are advertising a product, emphasis should be made on the product you are selling and not on yourself or looks.
2. If you are advertising a product, be sure to proof read what you are sending out to people to avoid errors and alternatively having a backup plan.
3. If advertising a product, we must use marketing data to take multiple angles in the approach to product advertising. Different information should reach different types of buyers. Making a campaign general or bland enough to be used across the entire market isn’t effective, because people are skilled at ignoring or shutting out marketing messages that aren’t relevant to them.
4. If advertising different Tripleclicks products, we must have tracking codes on each advertisement to know which one works and the one which doesn't to help reduce cost of paying for advertisement that do not work. Or alternatively, you can check the hit tracker under power tools on SFI on a daily basis on or before sunday to actually know which of the advertising sites work better and is effective.
5. If we are advertising, we need to stick to a budget and never go over board. By this, reduction in paying for advertisement that do not work and channeling it to adverts that work and yield results. In order words, you need to get a return on your investment than spending lots of money with limited results.
6. With technology change over time, if we do any advertisement, we have to ensure the application is mobile friendly. Looking at the first world countries like USA, Canada, UK etc, most people are always on the move and can access so many businesses, information and proposals online without direct contact using a Desktop computer. Putting such into consideration, when advertising, we need to ensure adverts can be viewed on both a desktop and mobile device to cut across alot of people which could either be your PRMs, PSAs or both.
7. When we advertise, we should never make a promise without fulfilling it. for example, we can decide to give the first 10 customers that register a $10 gift card. If we promise based on what we advertise and do not deliver on promise made, we can loose our integrity and faith that people may have in us on our product.
8. If we decide to use Email marketing, we need to be careful on the frequency of the mails being sent to our prospects or people on our mailing list. if we send too much mails, it could be regarded as spamming. Spamming is an offence and should be avoided.
9. Avoid borrowed interest:- In this form of advertisment, we need to stick to what we are good at and what our business entails. If we do an advertisement contrary to what our business is, we end up loosing the cost for advertisement and mainteinance as such, that should be avoided.
10. When advertising, never you advertise once and forget thinking a miracle to happen. Adverts can be shown 3 - 4 times a day and in a week 28 times. The advert being run will give a lasting impression to prospects and a high tendency for more sign ups.
11. Avoid setting or running your advertisement but employ a professional for that. This at the long run will help reduce advertisement cost and effectiveness of your advertisement.
12. Pay no attention to your target audience:- Professional marketers and expert advertisers will tell you that in order for you to have a successful marketing campaign you have to identify first your prospects before you begin any kind of work in your campaign. Inorder words, first identify your target audience and work out a marketing campaign or ad that would suit your prospects.
13. Avoid showing ads to people who don’t convert:- When we advertise, its possible for someone to click once, this doesn’t mean they will become a customer. If your ads are getting lots of impressions and clicks, and if those people aren’t converting to leads, we will need to readjust and change our strategy to ensure such ads are coverting to leads. This in turn will reduce high cost of advertisement on ads that aren't effective.
14. Avoid using the same ads, over and over again:- You can’t tell people the same things twice without looking a little desperate. Change your messaging, and most importantly, give your potential customers new information to get them to click through.
