With these questions we encounter every day. Much more affiliate gives up, much less them start working. In my opinion, you should have once again try to explain them all the benefits of working in SFI, paragraph by paragraph to explain the compensation plan, offer them your wholehearted support and assistance. Maybe it would be effective and offer a reward if you reach an agreed goal. But if they do not respond your offers of help you need to use 4th rule SFI Rules of Success:

When I was first in SFI I worked hard. It was hard work because I was learning. Now I understand a lot more about the business so I am working much more efficiently.

But after a month of hard work I got an SFI commission of about $0.79 and I was really discouraged. I thought about quitting. So, I have been right at the same place as many people who quit. I thought, "I have very little money to invest, how will I succeed." I expressed my frustration to Martha, my Sponsor.

Show how far you have come into this business
and the things you have received. Persistence
and determination are the key words. You can't
give up without trying. Always tell them that the
daily task is as important as your daily habit like
brushing your teeth. Let them open their eyes and
give them the desire to be one of a successful
business woman/man. When you touch that part
of their being, there is no turning back. The rewards
are huge. It is up

Let the affiliate know that if they need to take a break from trying to work their business they can without opting out. Being inactive for awhile won't cost them anything and if they have any kind of income or PSA's they will lose them permanently by opting out. If they opt-out and wish to rejoin sometime down the road they would have to start back over from square one. If they are having too much trouble getting started and that is their reason for wanting to opt out then you could always offer

Some of the top reasons might be that they are looking to make a few extra bucks a month to help supplement their current income, gain financial independence to live a better lifestyle, be home to raise their children themselves.
The most important thing to do in this business is to work with those who really try to make an effort. Many affiliates, unfortunately, will just sit on the fence and do nothing and let their business close on its own. They just simply are dropped from the roles and

I would say the first thing you would need to know is why they want to give up. From there you can find the right course of action to help them continue on their journey toward success. Each person is unique in their understanding of what SFI is all about and may be missing some vital information.
Ask the question, "Why?" and listen closely to the answer. As their sponsor, you have been in the program longer and will be able to help them through this rough spot.

If an affiliate is giving up on SFI, then I take it that at some point that specific affiliate learned the basics and actually went through the LaunchPad. So pointing out certain basic aspects of SFI or certain topics covered by the LaunchPad will not do much good and in some cases might even further solidify one's decision to give up as they will feel that you are just quoting something that they have seen already.

So back to your question now. How to convince an affiliate giving up to

Many times working a business such as SFI is more than many people want to do.

I would like to talk to the affiliate to see if their ideas and expectations about SFI was in line with what SFI is all about. Sometimes they need to re-adjust their idea of what a business is.

If they really want to keep their business I would recommend that they allow me to work with them to see if they need help. I would make sure that they understood how the program works.

The first thing is to tell your own story. How you managed to stay on .
First hand experiences are always the best to be narrated.
Ask him to be patient & not be in a hurry to earn.
Slow & steady always wins.
Let him take a breather. Let him take his own time.
Give him some actual figures regarding SFI like how it has survived all these years.
How many affiliates are there etc
