You need to carefully analyze each individual co affiliate's situation by considering the following. 1. The length of time the affiliate has been with SFI. 2. Study the profile of the affiliate to establish their situation and ability to be successfull. 3. Then assist and help them to overcome these obstacles by COMMUNICATION and encouragement
First thing when I get notice of a new PSA, I look to see if he has gathered any VP. My welcome letter will reflect what he has already done. Those with several hundred VP have probably figured out how to go about getting started, those with less may need encouragement. Then I check to see his To Do List to get a feel of his strengths and weaknesses. Some people do the activities, but balk at the reading and quizes.I send a welcome letter and if he has not earned very many more VP in a few days, I send a second letter offering encouragement and my help.
Some of my correspondence is divided up as to how successful my PSAs have been recently, and in the past. Has anything happened in SFI since the last log-in? Has a group of them been successful in reaching a goal? Are they at the stage where they really need some coaching to make it over that second month hump?
As far as my CSAs go, I also look at their VP and To Do List, and their sponsor's profile. A very new sponsor who is not yet a BTL past the first month may not be able to help his PSAs. The same with long term sponsors who are EA or below, may not be interested in helping their PSAs. One the other hand, some of my CSAs are doing gret and I am assuming that their sponsor is helping them. My letter to all my "CSAs states that their sponsor has the first responsibility to them, but that I am available to help anytime they need it.

The genealogy is a very powerful tool for sorting our affiliates up to the generation to us according to our rank. The different tabs combined the filtering system is really great to sort out your affiliates. One of those is the versa points earned by each affiliates.
I use it most to monitor my matching VP. I press Versa Points Tab. Then I sort the versa points "This month" then it will show the affiliates in all generations with the highest VP this month side by side with their Versa points last month and their rank. I copy and paste those EA up in excel then in one column I pick those who are Team leaders and EA2 (=if(cell where rank is indicated)="EA","",(cell fo the earned VP this month)) - This excel command means, if the cell is EA put blank, otherwise copy the VP this month. Then the result just drag it down and all those matching VP will show. Then add them.
Second I use the versa point information sort out in descending manner. Ether this month or Today to show the active affiliates in all generation. then if I see someone who need help immediately I send them message.

Each week, I send a team mail message to my whole team, but I also write individually to various members according to how I perceive their needs from the information in the Genealogy
This is a great feature of SFI Team. It has recently upgraded where you can see All vp made by your all generation of affiliates. By this you can get some approximation that how much Matching VP you can get from it. There are so many options available to get your affiliates individually by feature of FILTER. On which generation of affiliates having less vp so its required to be heed on that generation. You can take special care individually by mailing them and contacting with their sponsor. There is CONDENSED Genealogy and FULL Genealogy feature also , so take advantage of that also. You can make goal even that which level is good for you for current status.
E.g Let's say you are Bronze team leader and your genealogy is showing you that you have 9 levels of affiliates but as a BTL you will get only 6 level matching VP so even you can improve your designation at STL or GTL to get 8 to 10 levels of matching VP.
There are bundle of benefits to take from genealogy.

I use the Genealogy to look at the VP of my affiliates to see who may need help and then send them a mailer to try and help them out. I also look at their last log in dates and activity to see if they are staying active. I try to send out a mailer every couple of days to affiliates in order to keep them involved and hopefully active in the program.
I only recently started making full use of this tool. I'm using it to target my team members through all the different filters that tell me whether they're working hard and getting their VP, or not, PLUS they give me all the tools I need to check out whether they've been in SFI for a while or if they're newbies.
First I use the filter with a lesser than value (<) for less than 100 VP and send to those affiliates that have maybe gotten stuck or haven't logged in or done anything much after signing up. I may even bribe them a little to get them to log back in and do their todo list, or get their attention with a really good subject line and maybe offer them something simple like an ebook that might help them in some way.
Then I use the greater than value, or (>) to find those who have more than 100 VP to offer rewards and incentives. Most people love recognition. So I try to always recognize a job well done.
These filters can make a real difference in how we find those affiliates who may have gotten stalled or sidetracked. And when a sponsor is persistent and keeps on working on someone when no once else does, it makes a big impression.

You are answering the question: "How do you use the information in your Genealogy about the VP your affiliates (individually and collectively) have generated?"
I use the information to work on the assessment of the affiliates and see how best I can communicate with affiliates individually or collectively to boost their development on SFI business.
It also helps me to put in more effort because if someone that I signed up before is doing very well, then I as a sponsor or team leader should do better to boost the affiliate's morale.
It gives me hope on my SFI business especially when the affiliates are doing very well and keep me going.
It help me encourage affiliates who are having very low VP and remind them of the tips they need to apply in order to enjoy their SFI business.
