I think that if someone is so ashamed of what they are doing that they have to hide their url then they don't need my attention.
I do not have any use for any advertising method that will not recognize or let me use my url or gateway then they don't kneed me to participate in there program.
I do have some cloaked url and I never use them. A long time ago a program I was into required it but I am not with that anymore.
I like to be up front and proud of what and who I represent.

link cloaking software - what does it mean? There must be hundreds of thousands of affiliates who have my ability with websites or less, which is minimal at best, who have no idea of these software questions. Even when the software gurus answer questions like this, we are none the wiser because we are software ignoramuses.
When ASK AC comes up with questions like this, I say NO to whether the answer was helpful, because I did not understand the question or the answer.
Perhaps we could have a forum area devoted to nerdies, instead of wasting the time of all the people trying to get one more VP, who do not understand questions or answers.

Honestly, link cloaking is a good idea in some situations. Certain social media sites do not like affiliate links and they are blocked. If they are cloaked, it is more likely that the link will be accepted.
The only drawback I can see of link cloaking software is that it is heavily used. Whenever I am browsing the internet, if I can tell that a link is cloaked, I rarely click on it. For example, tinyurl is heavily used, I see it on a daily basis. I know not to click on those, because, in the past it has always lead to some scam site, some blog I don't care to read, or one of those Top 10 Lists used to entertain people that are full of ads.
Basically, it is hard to establish a "good name" or "brand" with a link cloaker. It would be much easier to have your own website with your own name that is short, catchy, and has something to do with what you are promoting. This can be expensive though, so if you must use a link cloaking software, it isn't an overall terrible idea.

Well for starters, it looks creepy - like you're trying to hide something or send clickers to a zone they wouldn't ordinarily want to go!
I know there are several reasons to cloak a link, but, looking at many problems we face with inactive signups; I've come to realize that we often over-sweeten the pie when inviting prospects to join SFI!
I'd like to say: Let's keep it as real as possible, and as open as possible.
No link cloaking. Some people actually feel SFI is kinda "spammy" and unreal.
The drawback here is the quality of result obtained is nothing compared to what you would have obtained keeping it real.
