In the first month as an ECA what should ECA not do?

An ECA may come into TripleClicks with hundreds of products already to be sole. But he should dole them out for approval slowly, but steadily. This will keep him on the "New at TC List" and his products in front of us at all times. When someone submits a large group of items that takes up many pages, they may not all be looked at by everyone, especially if they are all nearly the same. Recent examples are photos, coins, stamps, bed spreads, eBooks, etc. All of these have merit, but he may lose some potential sales because the potential buyers are just overwhelmed at the number of choices.

A new ECA should not delay offering items for sale because he doesn't know how to list the cost of shipping, or putting photos in his ad. People on the Forum are very willing to help.

Photos should not be blurry, cluttered, or too small. Descriptions should be complete but easy to read. Do not over-price items because you think that everyone is willing to pay the price.

Do not put so many items on that you can't service the sales. And don't get discouraged if no one buys for a few months.

Also don't forget that you need to advertise your own store. Others may advertise your items, but it's mostly up to the ECA. Make good TConnections, and a2a friends. You can not advertise in the Friends part of the Stream page, but in the ECA part. Also, friend requests often cause new friends to check your profile and ECA store. And don't forget to write some ECA NEWS FEEDS.

Do study what is already offered at TC. Don't worry if you have the same item, you won't live in the same area. Give the buyers a choice in shipping and prices.

Do keep your eye out for good deals that you can pass on to your customers. Try to partner with someone who will sell items to you at a discount when you have an order for it. That keeps your inventory down.

Try to enroll affiliates in your area so that you will have a group that will buy from you, and invite others to become ECAs so there will be more TC items in your area.

Remember to offer quality and service to your customers so they will come back to you.

As an E-Commerce Associate (ECA) your captive audience can be as large as 2million affiliates, therefore you want to put your best foot forward. You can build unlimited streams of income. In your first month you should continue to study the rules and technical aspects of the program.

Practice uploading your best product images with proper description and best competitive prices. As friends/members connect with your store, acknowledge them as potential customers. Accept messages and suggestions cordially. Advertise your store in social areas, your blog/website so that you can build your customer base. Be prompt in fulfilling your orders and queries.

Review your return policy and encourage customers to send a review of delivered products. Ensure your inventory is adequate and be honest with your customers in offering specials or discounts. Continue to upgrade your store presentation (logo, welcome message, etc)

Failure to be attentive to any of the above pointers could bring negative results which can only be discouraging. As such, those are your ‘don’ts’! So, keep working at improving your store every day. An e-Commerce Affiliate (ECA) is basically an entrepreneur who list their business with SFI/Tripleclicks, taking advantage of the wast network of affiliates in the 203 countries where we are represented.

I. What should he do in his first month?
Everything that helps him make sales fast

1. He should first comply with all the SFI requirements for being accepted as an ECA in good standing and excellent rating.
2. He should list as many products and/or services as possible to gain exposure with SFI affiliates as well as outside of SFI
3. He should conduct market research to identify a pricing strategy that will allow him to set profit margins that make his online store profitable, without pricing himself out of the market by being too expensive
4. He should connect with as many affiliates as possible. Such connections will give him exposure within SFI. These affiliates will have a vested interest in promoting his business within and outside
5. He should advertise and market his store with focus on the market niches he has identified to attract the right kind of customers both in terms of tastes and purchasing power.
6. He should have excellent customer service capable of fulfilling the orders he receives, addressing customer inquiries, complaints, returns and refunds.

These are the basic most urgent tasks that will increase his success potential.

II. What should he not do in his first month?
Everything that would make him lose the opportunity of a sale

a. He should avoid anything that is contrary to the six major tasks identified in the first section of does above.
b. He should avoid poor quality of goods and service
c. He should avoid poor quality customer service
d. He should avoid the temptations to duplicate and/or compete with the major online retailers and service providers such as Amazon and e-Bay. These giants have resources he will not be able to match.

In an ECAs first month, I would recommend they do NOT get all gung-ho on extras, freebies or any other kind of come-on. This could possibly make people feel a lack of confidence in the owners' opinion of his(her) own products. Why? If you have to bribe me to buy something, do you not think highly of it yourself?

Freebies, buy one/get one free sales are good for special occasions (parents days, non-card kind of holidays, etc.) and gift holidays like Christmas, graduations, etc.

What the ECA should be sure to do in the first month is have a good photo of all items; a clear description of items (size or quantity, uses, ingredients, etc.); availability (especially if item is not able to ship to specific areas); and price. Price should be low enough to attract buyers, but high enough to cover cost, commission to TripleClicks, AND a small profit to ECA. Try to price items so they sell, thereby making good money overall for the store. Better to make MANY smaller, frequent, and even repeat, sales than try to make all the month's profits off a very few higher-priced sales, with no repeats!

For a suggestion on what not to do - it is not wise to connect with prospects/customers for your service without their permission. If you do not get their permission, then your email messages to introduce yourself will be considered as spam. No one likes spam; never just add people o your email list. Spam is not an appropriate business practice to build a subscriber list.

On this topic, subscriber list...developing a scriber list with proper communication is what a new ECA should do.

One way to start building your subscriber list, is to ask all your existing clients and contacts if you can have their email address.

Once you get permission, ask if you can contact them from time to time via email with a newsletter or special offers or announcements. This will get you your initial list and give you something to get started with. Be sure to make an effort to contact these people with useful information, and make it easy for them to share your newsletter so they can assist with growing your list.

Another way to build your subscriber list is to put on your blog or website a way for people to sign up to receive regular updates from your ECA store. This needs to be easy to read and positioned in an uncluttered area of your site, which everyone will see.

Wise choices made during the first month with the ECA program, such as the one mentioned above will promote future business growth.

Well this is what I should be doing as well as not be doing in my first month as a new ECA :

To do list :

Research on your products or services offered, pricing,back end fulfillment ,shipping and return and refund policy in place ,on time delivery ,after sales follow up prior to listing it and await approval

Have good clear decent pictures and vivid description as a picture tells a thousand words

Send emails to everyone from your PSAS, CSAS,PRMS to T connect to others and post ads and promote your listings regularly

Monitor and fine-tune your listings along the way on what sells and what don't and see how to further improve it

Keep researching to add new listings and follow up with existing and potential customers

Adhere to the SFI ECA rules and be above board and ethical



Not to do list:

Failure to do proper and sufficient research resulting in OVERPRICING,

Substandard products or services and not fulfilling your part be it late or non delivery, shoddy or fake merchandise

Don't try to be funny and skip SFI Tripleclicks and deal direct instead

Unethical and illegal deals

Not following the rules

Well as it is certainly a work in progress therefore I would say that we should be mindful , watchful and be alert and always stay on the ground and be always willing to fine tune and be transparent and honor what you have stated for long term business as it tamales years to build up your reputation and just 1 deal to mess it up
