Since each of us are individuals and communicate individually, an exact verbal presentation isn't going to come across naturally and therefore won't produce results. However, there are certain guidelines that are proven to work.
1. First, make sure you are familiar with the ECA program so you are prepared to answer any questions about it.
2. Dress Professionally- Casual Business is acceptable.
3. Bring a brochure (make sure your SFI id is included) and attach your business card to it (not required but is more professional). Also, attach a letterhead IF you are approaching a large business and need to leave the information for management. See https://www.sfimg.com/Training/ECAStrategies for ideas on writing a letter.
4. Small to medium size businesses are easier to approach the owners, who are most likely going to be the ones to make the decision. When possible, you want to speak with the owner or store manager.
5. Choose businesses with whom you are already a customer with when possible. It is easier to approach them with something like "I've been a customer for a long time..." They are more likely to listen also. You can mention your favorite products.
6. Some talking points:
-You can increase sales without any risk
-It is free to list at Tripleclicks.com. Only pay a fee when we get you sales.
-All you have to do is list and fulfill orders.
-Easy to list.
-As a Tripleclicks affiliate, you'll help promote the products as well as will thousands of other affiliates. "It'd be great if people could buy (your favorite product) online from you at Tripleclicks..."
7. Do a little research before you go. Make sure you know a little about the business you are approaching. What do they offer? What problems does it solve? As an affiliate this is also important when promoting them when they become an ECA.
8. Decide what you want to say before you go. Word things in a way that is comfortable for YOU to say. It will come across naturally that way. You don't want it to sound like you are reading from the brochure. Be yourself. Keep it short and to the point; most owners and store managers are very busy and it shows you respect that.
Overall, most of it is actually preparation and is done before you even approach the prospect. Keep in mind also that even if someone doesn't sign up right away, that doesn't mean they won't later. Just like sometimes it takes many interactions over a period of time with a potential SFI affiliate before they decide to sign up, so it sometimes does with potential ECA's. Give them time and keep the information you gathered for later.
