I think there is not the biggest mistake, but there exists minor mistakes, let me enumerate a bit:
#1, Even yourself do not sure whether your SFI advertising is working. Some affiliates, they just throw their advertising at the, say, traffic-exchange sites or somewhere else and hope it works. In many cases they have no idea how to track results and adjust their advertising efforts to be more productive.
#2, Here, in my opinion, the big mistake is to spread advertising out evenly over the entire year. A constant amount spent each month in the same places. Although it's indeed a bit easy way to budget the advertising expense, but do note that we don't want advertising to be an expense we want it to be an investment.
#3, advertising in the wrong place. If you are spending your advertising dollars in the wrong place suddenly your advertising is an expense not an investment.
#4, not staying unique. I think this is one of the common and crucial mistakes advertisers would make, which is the advertisers are not sticking with what made them successful in the first place.
#5, when promoting ECA products, concentrate on product features instead of benefits. Some ads just talk about what a product has not what it does. No one ever buys a product for the features it has.
#6, the last but I think the most crucial mistake, forgetting the folks who got you there. Many businesses spend so much time trying to attract new customers that they forget the loyal customers who made them successful.
