There are many mistakes that one can make in advertising.
I'll try to draw your attention just to a few traps, which are in my opinion, most important to avoid.
Advertising has certain rules that everyone has to follow in order to run successful campaign.
You have to do a lot of market research to establish target audience. Not doing that, your campaign
will surely have little or no results.
- Don't do what everyone else is doing!
One school of thought says: "Fish where the fish are." But another says: "You can't stand out in a crowd if you look like one of the crowd." So, the advice of experienced and successful marketer is: "Yes, find out where the fish are, but use a different bait!"
- Try to avoid weird, zany, goofy advertising!
For some it worked very well, but usually that kind of advertising falls, because it is hollow and meaningless. You can't just trow something weird and expect people to like it and bay it.
By all means push the boundaries, but have a strong tie to the product or service you're advertising.
- Don't ever underestimate your audience!
Advertising uses the audience to complete the message. Don't tell them the whole story. You have to engage them so the message gets implemented in their minds and becomes effective. You can't tell them exactly what to think and how to feel. Give them the respect they deserve, and they will reward you wit their hard-earned money, and brand loyalty.
Good luck and all the best.
