Unless an affiliate signs in everyday and/or subscribes to the SFI NEWS they will not notice these announcements. You also cannot guarantee that they will read everything that they see.
What you can do is to ensure that they are aware of them and motivate them to read. One way to do this is by sending them a reminder. Posting a notice in the stream will ALERT them or REMIND them to read the specific announcements.
SFI newsletters with announcements are sent out to us via email, one way to to ensure an affiliate reads them is to ensure they receive emails from SFI in their inboxes. We can advise all new affiliates to whitelist SFI's email address in our welcome letter. We can also remind them from time to time about the importance of checking their spam folders.
The inactive ones who don't sign in will not notice the announcements and will not hear about them through the forum or by being at SFI. These ones can be reminded in the weekly team mails to read their emails from SFI. When there is an important announcement mention it in your team mail with a link.
One way to encourage reading is by not overwhelming them with unnecessary emails. The weekly newsletters are enough.
