My most successful affiliates are from a country where English is not the norm and yes, we have in some cases had difficulty communicating.
I check on their VP ledger so I can see where they may be missing something and if I see a gap I try and bring it to their attention as soon as possible.
The minute I pick up that an affiliate is struggling to communicate his/her needs to me, I refer them to the translator available on SFI. I also try and keep the English simple and refrain from using big complicated words.
Remember, we may think our answer is simple, doesn't mean they are able to understand it. Many years ago I learned this lesson when I called someone cute, they went to the dictionary and came back to me indignant that I had basically told them they were cheeky!
Also keep in mind that professionalism is key, what may be appropriate in the USA, may not be in Asia or Africa.
