A great advertisement definitely includes a picture, or sometimes even consists of only a picture.
And not just any picture, but a picture that is of good quality, and that isn't too small.
Two identical or similar products, similarly priced but sold by two different sellers? Potential buyers will go for the product represented by the better photo.
Text can be included in an image too - rather than long boring black text on a page near the image - that may be too small to read easily
- but allow the picture of the product to speak for itself if you do include text in the image too:

- keep your text short and to the point
- use an exclamation mark or two, but not too many - keep the advertisement neat
- address your target market
- include a call to action
