Working hard involves physical and mental work. In the beginning we work hard to understand how SFI works, how to get things done and simply how to get started.
We read and learn how to advertise, how to sponsor people to join our business then spend so much time worrying about inactives and non-producers and how to get them started and get moving. We tend to major in minor and lose sight of the Big Picture.
Working Smart is a mindset. It is knowing how to minimise work with maximum effect. SFI teaches us how to leverage by simply following the Ultra-Simple 3-Step Plan as outlined in SFI Basics. It also recommends investing a small amount in Standing Order, to save us from the stress and worry of requalifying every month, especially when personal circumstances get in the way and out of control.
This is when one will think about being more effective by setting a goal that is SMART.
SPECIFIC- Specify the goal you set and the tasks that need to be done to accomplish it. Think about what resources you need- time, money, etc.and write down a goal statement, to revisit and keep you on track when later on you lost your way.
MEASURABLE- Your goal must state what you want to accomplish in a way that can be measured. For example, getting $100 sales, sponsoring 100 PSAs this month, etc.
ACTION-ORIENTED & ACHIEVABLE- Know what needs to be done and why and what should inspire you to act. If sponsoring 100 PSAs will get you 5 workers who will become Team Leaders, will not only inspire, but motivate. If getting $100 or more in sales will enable you to pay for Standing Order, or purchase an item you've been longing to buy at TripleClicks, or simply to buy more TCredits so you can bid or play EZ games, etc. it more than inspire and motivate you to take action and achieve.
REALISTIC– Take into account the availability of resources- time, money, and commitment.
TIME-BOUND- Your goal must be accomplished eventually, even without a deadline. But setting a deadline according to the sequence of events will help to accomplish your goal.
So it is important to set cost and resources to keep the planning concrete and realistic.
If you want to make sure you’re in the second group, start with a goal, write it down, specify what steps need to be taken, let it inspire you to take action, have measurable outcome, be ambitious but realistic and include a deadline.
. Create today’s goal with a larger vision in mind.
. Focus on performance goals
. Keep the goals concrete and realistic
. Don’t let fear of failure keep your goals too small.
. Don’t set goals for situations you cannot control.
Good luck and wish to see you in the Second Group!
