I commend you for asking this question, as proficiency with writing skills can be a challenge for many (if not most) people. I personally think that it is less about the writing skills and more about allowing your passion and love for your business and SFI shine through that will reach through to your team.
Keep your script clean (run it through spell-check) and write often sharing your true thoughts and intentions. This will reach your team more than you realize. And try different formats (story, poem, direct message, etc.) ... every person resonates with things differently. Just switch them up while keeping your passion and belief strong while you send your message.
Always remember to truly believe and be passionate about what you are sharing in your messages. This is important and does make a difference.
Oh, and one more thing ... Just because a person does not respond to your message does not mean they are not getting your message. I have been pleasantly surprised (shocked even) at having some affiliates respond to an team mail that I have sent when they have not earned even 1 VP from the program. Just because they are seemingly not "active" does not mean that they are not reading, listening and hearing.
